Overview

Job Title: Senior Software AutomationTester

Location: Tidel Park, Tiruvanmiyur, Chennai (On-Site)

Interview Mode: F2F

Roles and Responsibilities:

Test Automation Framework Development & Maintenance:

● Design, develop, and maintain automation test frameworks (e.g., Selenium, TestNG,

JUnit).

● Create reusable libraries and utilities for test automation.

● Ensure the framework is scalable and can support a wide range of test cases.

● Keep up-to-date with emerging trends in test automation and integrate them as needed.

API Testing (Postman & Rest Assured):

● Postman: Develop, maintain, and execute API test collections using Postman.

● Rest Assured: Write and execute API automation scripts using Rest Assured in Java

(or another relevant language).

● Validate API responses (status codes, headers, and payloads) against specifications.

● Perform API load testing and analyze results for performance bottlenecks.

● Ensure that APIs meet functionality, performance, reliability, and security requirements.

Test Planning & Test Case Design:

● Understand business and technical requirements to create comprehensive test plans.

● Write test cases for both manual and automated execution based on requirements.

● Identify test scenarios for end-to-end testing and create appropriate test data.

● Ensure test coverage for edge cases, and maintain high-quality standards in automation scripts.

Automation of Functional & Regression Test Suites:

● Automate functional test cases to cover all aspects of the application (front-end and

back-end).

● Regularly update and execute regression test suites for different releases or sprints.

● Identify opportunities to optimize and refactor test cases for efficiency and reliability.

Defect Tracking & Reporting:

● Log defects found during automated test execution and work with developers to resolve them.

● Re-test defects and update the test automation suite accordingly.

● Report test execution results and coverage in daily or weekly stand-ups.

● Maintain traceability of test cases to requirements, test execution, and defect management.

Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) Integration:

● Integrate automated test suites into the CI/CD pipeline (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).

● Trigger automation scripts during builds to validate code changes.

● Monitor automated tests in the CI pipeline and debug any failures.

Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:

● Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, business analysts, and other testers.

● Attend sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospective meetings to contribute to

product quality.

● Provide feedback and recommendations for improvement in product functionality and

testing strategy.

Performance Testing (Optional, but Preferred):

● Perform performance testing using tools like JMeter or other performance suites.

● Validate APIs for load, stress, and scalability as needed.

● Analyze performance metrics and share reports with relevant stakeholders.

Version Control and Code Management:

● Manage and maintain automation scripts in version control systems (e.g., Git).

● Ensure proper code review and best practices for automation scripts.

Test Documentation & Reporting:

● Document automation strategies, test designs, and test execution results.

● Share testing metrics such as coverage, defect density, and automation pass/fail rate.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

● 2+ years of experience in automation testing.

● Proficiency in at least one programming language (Java, Python, etc.).

● Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab).

● Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, XML, and web services.

● Knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).

● Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
