We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Job Description Summary:
What you need to know about the role- We’re looking for a highly experienced professional who combines technical expertise with strong leadership capabilities to drive and execute strategic projects. This role requires hands-on development, accountability for project progress, and ownership of deliverables. The ideal candidate will lead initiatives focused on building value-added tools that enhance observability, scalability, and operational efficiency within the Risk as a Service pillar. You will also be responsible for executing the work, ensuring timely delivery, and collaborating with stakeholders to align on goals and outcomes. We are a dynamic group of engineers committed to operational excellence, innovation, and delivering high-quality solutions that empower PayPal’s risk products globally. Our team focuses on building tools and platforms that streamline workflows, enhance observability, and drive automation across critical operational processes. We work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data scientists, and DevOps engineers, to ensure seamless collaboration and impactful results.

Your day to day

• Leadership and Execution:
• Lead cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact solutions while actively contributing to development tasks.
• Take accountability for project progress, timelines, and deliverables.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical strategies and roadmaps.
• Development Responsibilities:
• Design and architect backend services using Python and/or Java.
• Implement machine learning models and AI-driven tools to improve workflows and operational efficiency.
• Debug and resolve production issues to ensure system reliability.
• Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to team members.
  
  
  

What do you need to bring-

• 5+ years of strong programming experience in Java, Node.js, and Python
• Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and system design
• Proven experience in machine learning, data engineering, LLMs, RAG applications, and MCP servers
• Hands-on leadership with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for outcomes
• Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams in dynamic, fast-paced environments
• Experience in refactoring or rewriting legacy code based on sound evaluation of existing implementations
• Practical experience with databases such as MySQL, Oracle, and BigQuery
• Familiarity with BI tools like Tableau, Looker, or Power BI
• Understanding of microservices architecture and cloud platforms
• Comfortable taking risks and navigating through constant change
