What You’ll Do

As a Software Engineer II in the Data Archival and Retention team, you will play a crucial role in improving Mimecast’s offerings, quality and customer satisfaction. Your responsibilities will include:

• Design, Develop, and deliver high-quality sprint tasks, contributing to high quality, robust and scalable solutions.
• Perform peer reviews of your team members’ deliverables, fostering collaboration and a focus on quality.
• Build REST-based microservices using Java (Java 11 and above) and leverage AWS services for modernized, cloud-native applications.
• Collaborate with stakeholders in planning, designing and delivering critical capabilities
• Redesign and modernize legacy systems, transitioning to AWS to improve reliability, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
• Actively contribute to a culture of learning, innovation, and teamwork within the organization.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for architectures, processes, and procedures, ensuring clarity and accessibility.
• Participate in critical incident support and implement preventive measures to minimize disruptions.
• Analyze and optimize AWS usage, recommending cost-saving strategies without compromising performance or reliability.
• Write resilient, secure, and efficient code to minimize downtime while ensuring top-notch performance.
  
  

What You’ll Bring

You’ll excel in this role if you have a passion for technology, a collaborative mindset, and the skills to build world-class software. Here’s what we’re looking for:

• Proven expertise in Java development, with a strong understanding of Java 11+ and experience in building scalable backend systems.
• Hands-on experience designing and maintaining Kafka-based event-driven architectures.
• A strong foundation in AWS services such as ALB, ECS, S3, ElastiCache, IAM, CloudWatch, and S3 Glacier, with the ability to design cloud-native applications.
• At Mimecast, we leverage the latest technologies, including the AI revolution. Experience with AI tools that enhance productivity is highly desired.
• Experience in modernizing legacy systems, with a focus on optimizing performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
• Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, ensuring efficient delivery of high-quality software.
• Strong database expertise, including experience with relational and NoSQL databases, along with skills in database design, optimization, and management.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• The ability to work collaboratively in a team-focused environment, fostering a positive and supportive culture.
