Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the Senior SSRS Developer will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) solutions. We are looking for someone with strong hands-on expertise in SSRS, SQL Server, and data modeling, along with a passion for building efficient, accurate, and scalable reporting solutions. This role will focus on designing, developing, and reviewing reports and dashboards, while collaborating closely with product, business, and data teams to deliver high-quality reporting solutions that support business objectives and decision-making.

What You’ll Accomplish – Your Performance Objectives

In Your First 30 Days
- Develop a basic understanding of existing SSRS reports, data sources, and business requirements by working closely with the team.
- Familiarize yourself with the company’s SQL Server databases, data models, and reporting standards.
- Deliver your first report or query enhancement and have it reviewed through the peer review process.
In Your First 3 Months
- Work with business analysts, data, and QA teams to deliver your first set of production-ready SSRS reports or dashboards.
- Collaborate with the DevOps/DBA team to support the automation of report deployment processes and improve version control practices.
- Ramp up on the existing reporting frameworks, tools, and workflows.
- Participate in peer reviews and team discussions to share SQL/T-SQL best practices and learnings.
- Contribute to identifying areas of technical or performance improvement in reports and propose solutions or enhancements.
In Your First 12 Months
- Consistently contribute to the on-time delivery of reporting solutions, enhancements, and bug fixes using Agile methodologies.
- Take ownership of key reporting areas or subject domains, ensuring their accuracy, scalability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with teams to support improvements in reporting processes, data quality, and integration.
- Actively participate in architectural and data modeling discussions to improve reporting and analytics capabilities.
- Contribute to the team’s knowledge base by documenting reporting standards, best practices, and mentoring newer developers or analysts.
The Day to Day:
- AI AssistDesign, develop, and maintain SSRS reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to meet business requirements with a focus on accuracy, scalability, and performance.
- Write optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions to support reporting solutions.
- Collaborate with product managers, business analysts, and stakeholders to translate requirements into effective reporting and BI solutions.
- Participate actively in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, code reviews, and other Agile ceremonies to ensure timely and predictable delivery.
- Continuously explore and implement best practices in database design, query optimization, and reporting standards to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and support to junior developers and team members when needed.
- 4 to 8 years of hands-on experience in designing, developing, and maintaining SSRS reports and dashboards.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, including T-SQL, stored procedures, functions, and query optimization.
- Proven experience working with large datasets, complex queries, and performance tuning for reporting solutions.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, relational database design, and integration of data from multiple sources.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for report deployment
- Exposure to SSIS or other ETL tools for data extraction, transformation, and loading is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical guidance, mentorship, or support to peers and junior developers.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
