What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain robust Perl-based backend systems that process critical financial data.
- Enhance and support our Fixed Income system, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement innovative solutions and improve legacy codebases.
- Optimize database interactions and batch processing pipelines for large-scale data workflows.
- Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and monitoring.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Perl backend development on Linux/Unix platforms.
- 4+ years working with relational databases such as Sybase ASE, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL, including schema design and stored procedure development.
- Strong grasp of object-oriented programming in Perl and modular software design.
- Proficiency in SQL, DBI, and advanced data structures.
- Experience with ETL systems, batch processing, and enterprise logging frameworks.
- Familiarity with CGI/Mod Perl, web application servers (e.g., Apache), and DevOps tools (e.g., Git, CI/CD).
- Ability to work with and modernize legacy codebases.
- Knowledge of transaction processing, data consistency, and error handling in enterprise environments.
- Exposure to Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA and Confluence.
- Bonus points for experience with:
- Perl testing frameworks (e.g., Test::More, Test::Class)
- XML/JSON parsing and generation
- Cloud computing (certification is a plus)
- Financial markets, especially Fixed Income products
