We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer, Product & Engineering, with a minimum of 7 years of experience in application or product development to join our growing team. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and evolution of intelligent Packaged Genies using Workato’s Agent Studio. These Genies rely on robust, scalable Skills that enable them to interact with applications, orchestrate workflows, and support sophisticated business scenarios. You will partner closely with cross-functional leaders to define architecture, establish best practices, and drive the creation of reusable, platform-ready components within Workato’s broader ecosystem of AI-driven solutions.

You Will Also Be Responsible For

• Leading the design and development of advanced Skills that empower Genies to perform complex, multi-system actions and orchestrate end-to-end workflows.
• Translating high-level business and technical requirements into scalable Genie architectures, Skill specifications, and orchestration patterns.
• Driving engineering excellence by defining coding standards, reviewing designs, and ensuring alignment with platform and product architecture.
• Building highly modular, maintainable, and performance-optimized Skill logic suitable for production environments.
• Troubleshooting complex issues, optimizing execution paths, and ensuring reliability and resiliency of Genie behavior.
• Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for architectural decisions, Genie structures, integration approaches, and engineering best practices.
• Identifying opportunities to expand Genie capabilities across Sales, HR, IT, Finance, and other functional domains, and influencing roadmap priorities.
• Mentoring engineers, guiding technical decisions, and fostering a culture of quality, reusability, and innovation.
  
  

• How to design and develop advanced Skills in Workato’s Agent Studio to power AI-driven Genies across a variety of use cases.
• How Orchestration brings together Skills, data, and actions across systems to create end-to-end intelligent workflows.
• How to architect modular, scalable components that fit into a larger platform ecosystem and support reuse at scale.
• Best practices for building, testing, and maintaining automation and AI-driven solutions in a product development environment.
• How Packaged Genies evolve through the full lifecycle—from requirements and design to implementation, refinement, and rollout.
  
  

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering, application development, or product development.
• Proven experience in architecting and delivering production-grade solutions.
• Strong mastery of programming fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, design patterns, modular architecture).
• Hands-on experience with integrations, API design, authentication flows (REST, OAuth, tokens), and backend development.
• Deep experience with product development lifecycles, reusable component design, and platform-based engineering.
• Ability to break down complex, cross-functional business problems into structured, scalable workflows and modular components.
• Experience with workflow automation, orchestration, or low-code platforms (or ability to learn them quickly).
• Strong debugging, performance optimization, and system-level troubleshooting skills.
• Genuine interest in AI agents, orchestrated workflows, and intelligent automation ecosystems.
