Managed File Transfer (MFT) Engineer / Business System Analyst

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Managed File Transfer (MFT) Engineer with strong Business Systems Analyst (BSA) experience to design, implement, support, and optimize secure file transfer solutions across the organization. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise with Cleo Harmony, an understanding of MFT best practices, and experience gathering requirements, analyzing business processes, and translating business needs into technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain managed file transfer (MFT) systems, focusing on Cleo Harmony.
• Gather, document, and analyze business requirements for new and existing file transfer workflows.
• Collaborate directly with internal stakeholders, trading partners, and third parties to define integration needs.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications for MFT configurations and automations.
• Integrate Cleo Harmony with internal systems (ERP, CRM) and external partners using secure protocols (SFTP, AS2, HTTPS).
• Develop and optimize automated file transfer workflows and exception handling processes.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve MFT issues including partner connection failures, file errors, and security alerts.
• Implement and manage security policies including encryption, authentication, and compliance standards (HIPAA, SOX, GDPR).
• Maintain system documentation: workflows, mappings, partner profiles, and support runbooks.
• Support project management tasks, provide status updates, and participate in project meetings.
• Participate in on-call rotation and contribute to disaster recovery testing.
  
  

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3–5 years of experience in enterprise MFT environments.
• Hands-on experience with Cleo Harmony configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.
• Strong experience gathering and analyzing business and technical requirements (BSA role).
• Expertise in file transfer protocols (SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS, AS2, AS4).
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Shell, Python, or equivalent).
• Solid understanding of network infrastructure (VPNs, DNS, firewalls, load balancers).
• Knowledge of encryption, security certificates, and key management (PGP, SSL/TLS).
• Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (Splunk, SolarWinds, Cleo Dashboards).
• Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification or strong experience with additional MFT platforms (IBM Sterling, GoAnywhere, Axway, Globalscape).
• Familiarity with cloud-based MFT solutions (AWS Transfer Family, Azure Data Factory, Cleo Cloud).
• API integration experience (REST/SOAP) for file transfer automations.
• Knowledge of ITIL service management practices and experience with ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems.
• Project management skills (Agile, Scrum experience a plus)
