Senior Software Engineer, Android Platform

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
• 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.

This new team will design, own, and implement the new Choice Engine architecture building in scalability and flexibility to cover new regulatory requirements which the existing product does not support.

In this role, you will work in a startup-like environment to solve challenging problems and build cool user experiences using Android Studio, Kotlin, Compose, Java. You will also be working with cross-product area teams to build meaningful integrations, while ensuring high quality and timely delivery necessary for regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Write and test product or system development code. Guide design reviews with peers and stakeholders to select among available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Work in a startup-like environment to solve problems and build user experiences in Files by Google using Android Studio, Kotlin, Compose, Java.
• You will also be working with Cross-Product Area (xPA) teams to build integrations with other Google products, to keep improving user experiences in Files by Google.
