Overview

Role - Senior Subject Matter Expert

Experience - 12 to 17 years

NP - Immediate to 30 days

Location - Pune (5 days WFO)

Mandatory Skills - Business Analysis, Java or PL/SQL, Unix/Linux, Testing (SIT, UAT, Regression) & expertise in either of Card Issuing/Acquiring/Switch & ISO 8583.

Domain - Candidate should have mandatory experience of working in Cards domain.

Budget - 41 LPA

JOB MISSION
As part of the design, development, and delivery of the organization, the Subject Matter Expert (SME) acts as a functional–technical authority on payment processes.
The role bridges business requirements and technical implementation, ensuring that payment functionalities are accurately translated into functional specifications, technical designs, and configurable rules in compliance with industry standards, regulatory constraints, and platform architecture.

JOB OBJECTIVES
1. Business & Functional Expertise
•    Analyze and formalize client business requirements related to electronic payments (issuing/ acquiring/ switching, clearing, settlement).
•    Translate business needs into detailed functional specifications aligned with Products architecture and capabilities.
•    Interpret complex client inputs (process flows, regulatory constraints, schemes rules) and convert them into structured, implementable functional models.
•    Act as a reference point for payment business logic, transaction lifecycles, and exception handling.

2. Functional-Technical Alignment & Implementation Support
•    Ensure functional specifications are technically consistent with system architecture, data models, and integration patterns.
•    Validate alignment between functional design and technical design (interfaces, APIs, batch flows, parameterization, rules engines).
•    Support development teams during:
o    Coding of payment workflows and business rules
o    Configuration of Products modules
o    Definition of data mappings and processing logic
•    Contribute to impact analysis for enhancements, regulatory changes, and new scheme requirements.

3. Testing, Validation & Delivery Support
•    Participate in functional testing phases (SIT, UAT, non-regression), ensuring:
o    Compliance with client requirements
o    Consistency with payment standards and scheme rules
•    Review test scenarios, test cases, and test results to validate end-to-end payment flows.
•    Support issue analysis and resolution during testing and go-live phases.

4. Advisory & Knowledge Dissemination
•    Monitor and analyze payment industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 8583, ISO 20022, scheme rules, compliance frameworks).
•    Capitalize and maintain functional and technical documentation related to payment processes.
•    Provide functional and technical training to internal teams and stakeholders.
•    Act as a consultant on best practices in electronic payment processing and solution design.


PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
•    Education: Master’s degree (Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent)
•    Experience: Minimum 12-16 years in electronic payment systems, preferably within card management, switching, or acquiring platforms
•    Strong ability to operate at the intersection of business, functional design, and technical implementation
