Job Purpose

The successful candidate will work closely with the in-house and client-side teams from one of our esteemed clients based in the UK. Our client is a global leader in gym and personal training (PT) management, offering extraordinary service and cutting-edge, proprietary client-led technology.

The primary looking for an experienced Senior Backend Software Developer with strong expertise in TypeScript and Node.js (preferably HapiJS) to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will bring a solid backend development background, along with a working understanding of frontend technologies such as ReactJS. You’ll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend services, collaborating across teams, and driving technical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable backend systems using TypeScript and Node.js (preferably HapiJS).
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and designers to deliver seamless user experiences.
• Participate in system architecture and API design decisions.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in backend development.
  
  

Qualifications, Skills And Experience

• 6+ years of professional experience in backend development.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js.
• Experience with HapiJS or similar Node.js frameworks (Express, Fastify, etc.).
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architecture.
• Solid experience with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL).
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD workflows.
• Basic knowledge of frontend development, particularly with ReactJS.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD practices and version control using Git.
  
  

Nice to have

• Experience with GraphQL or event-driven architectures.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, etc.).
• Previous experience in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Strong experience with one or more: SvelteKit, React.js, VueJS
• Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3 (incl. Flexbox/Grid), JavaScript (ES6+)
