Overview
Job DescriptionAs an integral member of our team, the Business Intelligence (BI) Developer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of mission-critical enterprise Business Intelligence reports/dashboards. Working with cross-functional teams, this person will participate to gather and document reporting requirements to meet business needs. Using skills and experience as a BI Developer, you will then use those requirements to design and develop reports and dashboards that utilize various underlying data sources. You may assist with the preparation of detailed specifications and will be responsible for the technical design, development, documentation, testing, implementation, and support of multiple reporting requirements.
This position will also create test data and execute unit and system testing. The individual will also monitor the availability of the application and troubleshoot system issues. It is also expected that new software technologies are learned especially those that are consistent with our project's requirements.
Responsibilities
- Participate in business meetings to gather reporting and dashboard requirements
- Translate business requirements into specifications that will be used to implement the required reports and dashboards, created from multiple data sources
- Provide support as required to ensure the availability and performance of developed reports and dashboards for users
- Ensure proper configuration management and change controls are implemented
- Provide training, user documentation and assistance to end users as required
- Design and implement technology best practices, guidelines and repeatable processes
- Understanding Data Sources and Data Modeling concepts to develop and enhance the existing Data Warehouse
- Experience with a variety of sources (XML, Oracle, flat file, excel spreadsheets, transactional sources, etc.)
- Knowledge of logical and physical database modeling concepts and techniques
- Understand normalized and star-schema physical models and logical & dimensional modeling concepts
