Software Engineer – BI

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join the Care Solutions GPS BI team at HealthEdge in our Hyderabad office. In this role you will own end-to-end development and delivery of BI reports that power analytics for Care Solutions.

You will bring deep expertise in BI tooling, building reliable and performant reports that help CareSolutions turn complex clinical and operational data into actionable insights. This role partners closely with Business Analysts, Project Managers and data engineering teams to drive report quality, stakeholder trust and continuous platform improvement.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Report Development and Delivery

• Own end-to-end analysis, design, development and deployment of enterprise BI solutions across the Care Solutions platform.
• Partner with Business Analysts to translate complex report requirements into actionable insights, providing level-of-effort estimates and aligning delivery timelines with GPS project managers.
• Deliver high-quality standard, custom and enhancement reports within schedule and client expectations.
• Participate in client calls, provide technical updates and represent BI delivery in stakeholder forums.
• Create Jira stories to track report delivery, maintain Confluence documentation and deliver user enablement and training to support adoption.

BI Development

• Design and deliver high-performing Tableau and QuickSight dashboards and visualizations.
• Own the development of QuickSight datasets and Tableau data sources end-to-end, partnering with data engineering teams to ensure performant, governed and production-ready reporting solutions.
• Build and maintain automated unit testing frameworks for reports and datasets, ensuring data accuracy and high-quality releases.
• Own report quality across the full delivery lifecycle, enforcing data validation standards and proactively resolving discrepancies before they reach stakeholders.
• Run automated CI/CD pipelines for report and dataset deployments.
• Actively leverage Generative AI tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Cursor) as thought partners for query optimization, test scaffolding, documentation and insight discovery.
• Stay current with BI, data engineering and cloud platform trends and bring recommendations to the team.

Governance and Documentation

• Own and maintain metadata dictionaries, KPI definitions and reporting standards as the authoritative source of truth for BI governance and long-term platform sustainability.
• Monitor automated alerting for Tableau extracts and QuickSight datasets, responding proactively to quality issues before impacting stakeholders.
• Participate in on-call incident triage, performing thorough root-cause analysis, implementing lasting fixes and documenting findings to prevent recurrence.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for all datasets, data sources and reports, ensuring engineering and analytics teams have a reliable single source of truth.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in BI reports and dashboards delivering enterprise BI solutions integrating with datawarehouse
• Expert Proficiency with AWS QuickSight and Tableau, including dashboard design, report development and data source optimization.
• Demonstrated experience using AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor) as active development partners for code generation, test scaffolding, code review and documentation
• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL or a related database including SQL development, performance tuning and data modeling.
• Familiarity with AWS data services including S3, Glue, Athena and IAM.
• Familiarity with Git/Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence and DevOps concepts.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience in the US Healthcare domain and familiarity with HIPAA compliance and healthcare data security standards.
• Experience with report platform migrations.
• Cloud platform certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Data Analytics or similar).
