What’s The RoleAs a Software Engineer – ERP BTP, you will play a key role in Shell’s NextGen ERP Programme, a strategic initiative aimed at driving the enterprise-wide transition to SAP S/4 and Master Data Management over the next decade. This transformation represents a unique opportunity to simplify, standardize, and automate core transactional processes across the organization. Your work will support the implementation of common processes, data, and systems across Upstream, Integrated Gas, and Downstream, enabling improved reliability, productivity, and safety. Additionally, you will help streamline procurement, finance, and logistics processes by leveraging market-standard, end-to-end solutions within SAP S/4, contributing to Shell’s vision of an integrated and efficient digital future.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Adhere to Shell IDE standard procedures and work instructions, operating under the guidance of the Sr. Technical Delivery Lead (S4/BTP), BTP SMEs, and the BTP Design Authority.
- Collaborate closely with Business Analysts and BTP Delivery Leads to translate business requirements into application designs and developments aligned with BTP and S4 Extensibility Design standards.
- Contribute to the design, coding, and modification of technical solutions to meet project objectives.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables and compliance with best practices.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in existing software to enhance functionality and performance.
- Provide recommendations for bug fixes and problem resolution to improve software reliability.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously enhance skills and drive innovative solutions.
- Act as a key point of contact for identifying product gaps and improvement opportunities; document these findings and channel them—along with value cases—to the appropriate stakeholders (e.g., SAP Oil & Gas Consortium, CIO Office, Architecture team, and other SAP engagement bodies).
- 5–8 years of experience, including 4+ years in SAP BTP/SCP development
- Hands-on experience with SAP Fiori, UI5, HANA Cloud, and S4 HANA extensibility patterns
- Skilled in developing Fiori applications (Free-style and Fiori Elements), adaptation projects, and extensions
- Proficient in building apps and services in Cloud Foundry using Cloud Application Programming Model (CAPM)
- Strong Node.js development experience on SAP BTP, including services, validations, and security
- Good understanding of BTP routing, authentication, and security
- Experience configuring SAP Build Workzone and Business Process Automation
- Familiarity with BTP services such as Job Scheduler, Event Mesh, and HANA Cloud
- Experience integrating BTP with SAP and non-SAP systems
- Knowledge of BTP CI/CD pipelines and GitHub
- Commercial mindset with ability to align technology to business outcomes
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to build strong collaborative partnerships and influence senior stakeholders
- Resilience and willingness to challenge and manage expectations
- Experience in IT demand management, budgeting, and business case development
- Working knowledge of Agile frameworks
- BTP certifications are good to have
