Software Engineer

The Group: The Financial Planning group builds solutions and capabilities that enable financial advisors to deliver compliant and comprehensive financial advice so that their retail clients and investors meet their goals. The solutions leverage Morningstar’s extensive data and research capabilities across all stages of financial advice making the advice process compliant, efficient and effective.

The Role: The Morningstar AdviserLogic - Apart from our existing product line, we are now poised to extend our vision further to reach out to every individual in Australia who needs to plan and manage their financial goals and access financial advice seamlessly with the help of cutting edge technology. In this space, we are looking to build a new product line that is scalable to handle retail users' load by utilizing technologies like cloud services, NodeJS, .NET core, Python and open-source relational/non-relational databases.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for analysis of current application/product - performance, diagnosis and troubleshooting of problem and designing solutions to problematic code.
• Responsible for developing new product/features and assure production of a quality product.
• Tests developed/modified products/features to ensure that logic and syntax are correct, and results are accurate.
• Document code consistently throughout the development process by listing a description of the program, special instructions, and any changes made in database tables on procedural, modular and database level.
• Design, develop and implement applications that support day-to-day operations.
• Provide innovative solutions to complex business problems.
• Provide solutions to improvise performance and scalability of systems.
• Attending all relevant scrum events and ceremonies
• A persistent focus on product implementation with a long-term view of iterative product delivery.
  
  
  

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in software development.
• Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem-solving, and complexity analysis.
• Proficiency in asp.net web forms or MVC
• Minimum 1 years of experience in web application development using .net framework.
• Experience in creating API with .net core.
• Experience in any modern web development framework like Vue.js, React.js or angular is desirable.
• Experience in writing unit tests.
• Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and planning skills, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment while delivering high-quality work.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
