As a Java Engineer, you will contribute across the software development lifecycle—from implementation and testing through production support and continuous improvement. You will build and maintain RESTful services using Java and Spring while supporting existing legacy systems as needed. This role is ideal for an engineer who has strong core Java fundamentals, enjoys solving technical problems, and is eager to deepen their expertise in building reliable, scalable back-end systems.
You will work in a hybrid Agile environment, partnering closely with engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality production systems.
What You Will Do
- Design, develop, test, and maintain RESTful APIs and back-end services using Java and Spring
- Implement new features and enhancements with a focus on clean, maintainable code
- Support and improve legacy Java services while contributing to incremental modernization efforts
- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues across service and database layers
- Assist in optimizing application performance, reliability, and scalability
- Participate in code reviews and follow established engineering best practices
- Collaborate with architects and senior engineers on design discussions and technical solutions
- Support production systems, including issue investigation and root-cause analysis, and participate in an on-call rotation for production support
- 3+ years of back-end development experience using Java
- Strong foundation in core Java (collections, exception handling, object-oriented principles, multithreading basics)
- Hands-on experience with the Spring Framework, especially Spring Boot and Spring MVC / REST
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
- Experience working with relational databases and writing SQL queries (Oracle or similar preferred)
- Exposure to architectural concepts such as microservices, layered design, and service-oriented architecture
- Familiarity with build and version control tools such as Git and Maven/Gradle
- Understanding of basic software design principles and common design patterns
- Ability to debug and troubleshoot issues using logs and basic monitoring tools
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience
- Experience with Spring Batch or background processing frameworks
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS or similar)
- Experience with containerization (Docker)
- Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
- Familiarity with messaging technologies (Kafka, JMS, or similar)
- Understanding of API security fundamentals (OAuth2, JWT, basic authentication)
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
