How You Will Contribute
As a Java Developer , you will report to the Engineering Manager for Navigator NCS and be a part of a high-performing Agile scrum team responsible for advancing Ciena’s multi-vendor domain controller solution. Navigator NCS helps automate the lifecycle operations of packet and optical networks, supporting a strategic shift from legacy systems to scalable, open software platforms.

How You Will Contribute

Navigator NCS helps automate the lifecycle operations of packet and optical networks, supporting a strategic shift from legacy systems to scalable, open software platforms.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Collaborate within Agile teams to design and implement features for the management and control of Packet Optical Devices, including third-party products.
- Work closely with Product Owners and Architects to understand requirements related to IP/MPLS technologies, including Segment Routing, OSPF, BGP, and VPNs.
- Develop solutions based on YANG models and Netconf/gNMI protocols, enabling integration with external router platforms.
- Contribute to the design, development, and testing of microservices within the Navigator software architecture.
- Support the release/design lead to ensure high-quality delivery of features and software updates.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Java developer.
- Strong expertise in advanced Java, multithreading, and data structures.
- Practical knowledge of Netconf/gNMI protocols and YANG models.
- Hands-on experience working with microservice architecture and RESTful APIs.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Self-starter who can work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Working knowledge of Layer-2/Layer-3 protocols such as ISIS, OSPF, BGP, BGP-LU, MPLS, LDP, L2/L3 VPNs, and Segment Routing.
- Experience with UI development or as a full-stack developer.
- Familiarity with XSLT (Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations).
- Exposure to third-party router implementations and data modeling using vendor-specific YANGs.
