Sr Performance Test Engineer

Who We Are Looking For

As WebPT’s Senior Performance Test Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of our software products by designing, implementing, and maintaining load testing solutions. You will collaborate with Performance Test Engineer Architect, application owners and business stakeholders to responsibly design and develop performance tests for optimizing performance of software applications. This role requires you to follow Performance testing best practices, methodologies, and guidelines with the goal of proactively preventing quality issues.

What You’ll Be Doing as A Part of Our Team:

• Well versed with performance testing project activities including requirements gathering, planning, designing scripts and creating test data, executing load tests, reporting observations, server monitoring and analysis.
• Extensive experience in handling end to end Performance testing life cycle.
• Participate in Non-functional requirements discussion with Application owners and understanding Non-Functional Requirements.
• Research and evaluate new Load testing tools, proof of concepts for open source monitoring/dashboard solutions and other requirements on need basis for the successful delivery of Performance Testing.
• Create test scenarios as per the NFR and develop the test scripts using Load testing tools.
• Experience in designing and automating different phases of performance test life cycle.
• Understand workload modeling and strategize Performance testing approach basis of production volume data.
• Designing different types of load test scenarios using PT tool
• Execute load tests and monitor to capture all relevant PT metrics.
• Integrating performance testing into CI/CD pipelines allowing for the early detection of performance issues and enable faster delivery cycles by automating performance checks at each stage of development
• Utilize Application monitoring tools like Dynatrace/AppDynamics for root cause analysis of Performance metrics.
• Utilize log monitoring tools like Splunk / Kibana to identify application or environment issues and utilize them for defect triaging.
• Create required documentation during the PT lifecycle - NFR questionnaires, Test plan and approach document, Test results documents.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams like QA, automation, development and environment management to be able to successfully deliver Performance testing releases
• Adhere to Agile process and having a good understanding of JIRA or related tools.
• Adhere to defect life cycle processes and be active on defect triages running them until completion. Should be able to focus on performance defects and differentiate them with functional defects.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools in the rapidly evolving software testing landscape.
• Mentor and guide junior resources in the team in Performance testing concepts and tools providing technical expertise and sharing best practices.
  
  
  

Ideally, You Would Also Have These

• Load testing tools – JMeter, Blaze Meter, LoadRunner, Neo load
• APM tools – Dynatrace, AppDynamics, New Relic.
• Log monitoring ability – Splunk tool , Kibana
• Dashboard creation – Grafana
• Preferably past experience with Load testing of cloud hosted applications
• Scripting protocols – web http/html, Ajax true client, REST API, web services (SOAP, JSON), MQ, Java User.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills to identify, troubleshoot, and document defects and issues effectively.
• Strong Programming skills in any of the programming languages such as Java, C# or similar used for writing custom codes in scripts.
• Research and evaluate new Load testing tools, proof of concepts for open source monitoring/dashboard solutions and other requirements on need basis for the successful delivery of Performance Testing.
• Good analysis skills for memory heap and thread using Java Visual VM tool or any of APM tools.
• Knowledge UNIX/Linux Operating System
• Able to analyze AWR reports to identify any performance bottlenecks from Database end.
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
• Communicate and collaborate across all functional teams.
• Self-motivated, results-oriented, and most importantly a team player
• Able to plan and organize work, but also collaborate effectively on those plans with fellow team members.
  
  
  

What You Should Have To Qualify

• Minimum 7 to 9 years of experience as Performance engineer in an Agile software development environment.
• Experience with different PT tools and monitoring systems
• Cloud basics (any of cloud vendors AWS / Azure/ GCP)
• Load testing of a cloud hosted application.
• CI/CD implementation for Performance testing
• Any bachelor’s/master’s degree.
  
  
  

Preferred:

• Healthcare domain knowledge or previous experience with healthcare APIs and applications.
• Most of experience spans around as an individual contributor who has handled successful delivery of load testing projects working/owning end to end phases.
