Overview
We are seeking an experienced Python Developer to join our engineering team. This role combines hands-on backend development expertise with leadership responsibilities, requiring someone who can architect scalable server-side applications while mentoring and guiding a team of talented developers. You will be responsible for driving backend technical decisions, ensuring system performance and reliability, and delivering robust solutions.
Responsibilities
Backend Development & Architecture
- Architect and design scalable backend systems using FastAPI framework for high-performance financial data processing and real-time index calculations
- Design and implement scalable software solutions using advanced Python design patterns.
- Architect and optimize complex data processing workflows using Pandas and related libraries.
- Lead the development of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture to support distributed financial data processing
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) into technical solutions.
- Develop and maintain robust data architectures for high-performance analytics and processing.
- Ensure adherence to SOLID principles and software engineering best practices across all development stages.
- Conduct code reviews and mentor team members on Pythonic practices and efficient data handling.
- Drive backend technical innovation by evaluating and implementing emerging technologies that align with business objectives.
- Lead and mentor a team of 3-6 Python developers, providing technical guidance and career development support
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to quality standards and best practices
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and continuous learning
- Guide technical decision-making and help resolve complex technical challenges faced by team members
- Participate in hiring processes and contribute to building a strong engineering team
- Develop efficient, scalable backend services following industry best practices including unit testing, CI/CD, and design patterns
- Design and implement database schemas and data models optimized for financial data processing
- Build robust data integration layers connecting various back-end services, databases, and external financial data sources
- Implement authentication, authorization, and security measures for backend APIs and services
- Build and maintain cloud-native backend applications on GCP/AWS/Azure platforms with focus on scalability and reliability
- Implement comprehensive monitoring and logging for backend systems and services
- Implement automated testing strategies and ensure high code coverage across projects
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies and participate in all Scrum ceremonies.
Experience & Leadership
- 8+ years of backend development experience with at least 3 years in a technical leadership role
- Proven track record of leading backend development teams and delivering large-scale server-side applications in production environments
- Experience in architecting and scaling distributed backend systems handling high-volume data processing and real-time operations.
- Strong command of Python programming with emphasis on object-oriented design. Deep understanding of various design patterns. Ability to apply design patterns effectively in real-world scenarios to improve code modularity and maintainability.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with FastAPI and building high-performance, scalable RESTful APIs
- Strong expertise in backend data processing libraries including Pandas, NumPy, and data processing frameworks. Expert-level experience with Pandas for complex data manipulation, transformation, and analysis. Knowledge of internal workings of Pandas. Familiarity with performance optimization techniques. Experience handling large datasets and implementing efficient data pipelines.
- Solid foundation in Data Structures & Algorithms with ability to optimize backend systems for performance and scalability
- Extensive experience with RDBMS and SQL, including PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL for backend data storage
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred, AWS/Azure acceptable), including backend services, containerization, and orchestration
- Proficiency with ORM libraries such as Pydantic, SQL Alchemy, or similar frameworks for backend data modelling.
- Experience with version control systems (Git/GitHub) and collaborative development workflows
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment strategies
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform
- Understanding of backend microservices architecture and distributed systems design patterns
- Experience with backend monitoring, logging, and observability tools for production systems
- Knowledge of API security best practices including authentication, authorization, and data protection.
- Strong background in Agile methodology with hands-on experience in scrum ceremonies and sprint planning
- Ability to manage multiple business-critical projects simultaneously while maintaining quality standards
- Experience with project estimation and technical roadmap planning
- BRD to Solution Design Ability to interpret and analyze Business Requirement Documents (BRDs). Experience designing end-to-end technical solutions based on business needs. Strong documentation skills to create technical specifications and architecture diagrams.
- Experience with BigQuery or other data warehousing solutions
- Knowledge of frontend technologies such as React.js, Vue.js, or Bootstrap for full-stack development
- Experience with message queues and event-driven backend architectures (Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis)
- Familiarity with backend caching strategies and performance optimization techniques
- Experience with backend data streaming technologies and real-time processing frameworks
- Knowledge of backend containerization and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes
- Understanding of financial markets and index calculation methodologies.
- Backend Technical Leadership: Ability to guide backend technical decisions and mentor development teams
- System Design: Strong skills in designing scalable, maintainable backend architectures
- Performance Optimization: Expertise in optimizing backend systems for high throughput and low latency
