What will you be doing?

You will be responsible for ETL process management. This includes data modeling, data warehouse architecture, data pipeline development and ETL testing. Working with a variety of data technologies, you will work in a batch processing environment where the emphasis is on processing large volumes of data at scale and speed.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimise high performance ETL Systems
• Work with a variety of data sources, including SQL database and flat files
• Efficiently manage structured data and meta data
• Work with querying and reporting tools, application development tools, data mining and OLAP tools
• Manage the data cleansing and data enrichment process
• Design data warehouse architectures
• Design and build data pipelines, including data extraction, staging, formatting and enrichment
• Test tools, models, and data pipelines
• Design efficient, fit-for-purpose and detailed data models
• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation

Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Technology
• Previous experience in ETL development (5+ years)
• Strong experience with Bash and Python scripting in a Linux/Unix environment
• Strong experience in SQL scripting: PostgreSQL, MonetDB
• Knowledge and expertise in data model testing, data flow validation and system performance testing
• Hands-on ETL development experience in Hive/PySpark
• SCM/CI – SVN/Git & Jenkins preferable
• Knowledge of business intelligence and data warehousing concepts
• Strong communications skills (verbal and written)
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Strong initiative
• Collaborative team player
• High attention to detail
• Ability to take on feedback
• Adept at learning new software systems

Desirable

• Experience with Apache Airflow
