Sr Staff Software Engineer

About The Role

Earner & Vehicles (E+V) presents the supply side of the marketplace, serving the needs of drivers, couriers and fleet operators (collectively called Earners - 7M+ globally and increasing everyday) and empowering them to improve their earnings and have a delightful experience on Uber as the largest Gig Platform globally.

E+V India engineering is responsible for building products and solutions that power this experience, throughout their onboarding and operational journey. These include Earner's onboarding and compliance, online experience on the Earner App, progression & loyalty constructs and fleet management (including EV & AV fleets).

Earner Access is a sub-unit of E+V Engineering with focus on building systems for Earners and Fleet Partners to discover, onboard and become compliant for various earning opportunities across Uber's portfolio of services. We are on a multi year roadmap to build the world's largest Gig Platform, with efficient and intelligent compliance process. As part of this team you will have direct responsibility for critical systems and processes. You will take ownership of essential features and scope will span across team in Onboarding, Gateway+Config sub-orgs within Earner access. Your work will directly impact the lives of millions of Uber's partners (drivers, couriers), riders, eaters, and operations teams across the globe.

We are also building an agentic stack that employs GenAI and LLMs to help Earners and Operations teams get active help and assistance, through a layer of Earner Access agents and MCP servers. You will be a key stakeholder and owner in building out this layer.

What You'll Do

• Design/architect, develop and/or test software applications using Uber's technology stack
• Apply technical knowledge to evaluate complex development/projects and provide recommendations to resolve complex technical issues;
• You'll be very close to business concerns, working alongside Product Managers, Designers, Data Scientists and Operations team, to understand what's most important, and translating that to systems, designs, and code that best solves for today, as well as plans for tomorrow
• You will build user-facing products - the work you do will impact every single Earner and operations. You will be responsible for the delivery of high quality products with fast iterations.
  
  

What You'll Need

• Grit, drive and a deep feeling of ownership.
• Minimum 14+ years hands on experience in developing distributed computing systems at internet scale.
• Good understanding of databases, messaging and system design for resiliency and reliability
• Some experience working with GenAI, LLMs and agentic stack would be good.
• Experience analysing a feature in production using analytics and experiments
• Experience collaborating on projects and working efficiently as part of a team
• Thriving in ambiguity and having a go-getter attitude
