JOB PURPOSE:
Janes is searching for a Military Analyst to join its Military Intelligence (JMI) Team. The JMI Team provides comprehensive and connected data and data-driven insight on the world's military forces. This data is used by the wider Janes Research, Data and Analysis team and Janes customers.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AT JANES
• Research military forces within an assigned area of responsibility (AOR) to update and maintain currency of the Janes Order of Battle database.
• Research, update and maintain currency of inventory and installation data within an assigned area of responsibility.
• Connect Order of Battle and inventory data to create a Table of Organisation of Equipment.
• Update and maintain the country's Armed forces reference files.
• Work with internal Janes Research, Data and Analysis customers to ensure data is complete and structured properly for various content types.
• When requested, deliver data-driven insight and analysis for Janes products and customers on deadline.
THE IDEAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE FOR THIS ROLE ARE
• Experience with open-source intelligence (OSINT) and satellite imagery collection and analysis.
• Knowledge of military subject matter, including military equipment and organisation in South East Asian and East Asian countries; mainly prior knowledge of North Korean military structure and its equipment is an advantage.
• Knowledge of military and security issues and dynamics in South East Asian and East Asian countries.
• Ability to synthesise information from disparate sources.
• Comfortable learning to use a specialised database and maintaining structured data.
• Good oral and written communication skills and ability to comprehend English texts.
• Fluency in additional languages such as Korean, Mandarin is an advantage.
• University Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree (International Relations/Defence and Strategic Studies/Defence and National Security Studies) or equivalent.
• Excellent attention to detail and a logical approach to problem solving.
• Ability to adapt quickly to work process changes.
• Accept new challenges and roles as and when assigned.
