Key Responsibilities

Monitoring & Operations: Daily health checks, monitoring backup/restore/archive jobs, ensuring successful completion, managing tape libraries (labeling, check-in/out, scratch/private volumes).

Policy Management: Defining and binding client data to policy domains and management classes with specific retention periods.

Storage Management: Running migration, reclamation, and expiration processes; managing storage pools (disk, tape) and space.

Client Management: Installing/configuring TSM clients, managing client nodes, and performing backups/restores.

Troubleshooting: Resolving failed jobs, tape errors, hardware issues (drives/libraries), and server problems.

Disaster Recovery (DR): Ensuring DR plan files (devconfig, volhistory) are backed up, testing recovery, and managing offsite data.

Performance Tuning: Optimizing TSM performance, implementing LAN-free backups, and tuning databases.

Virtualization: Protecting data for VMware environments (vCenter, ESXi hosts).

Scripting: Automating tasks and customizing functionality.
