Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Android Developer to spearhead our Android development efforts for a high-impact media platform. As an Android Developer, you will be responsible for all things Android in a Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) environment. You will help design and develop high-performance, user-centric Android applications for streaming, news, and other media content. You will also play a pivotal role in building a strong offshore team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and ensuring seamless integration with global stakeholders.

The right individual for this role will be a motivated and energetic developer and a leader who takes initiative, enjoys finding solutions to a varying number of challenges, is detail-oriented and takes extreme pride in their work.

Proficiency in Android and Kotlin

• 8+ years in Android and Kotlin.
• Familiarity with Jetpack Compose is a plus.
  
  

Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP)

• Experience or willingness to upskill in Kotlin Multiplatform for developing cross-platform applications (iOS, Android, and other platforms).
• Experience in sharing business logic and code between iOS and Android using KMP.
  
  

Experience With Android/Android TV Frameworks

• In-depth knowledge of Android and Android TV frameworks such as Jetpack Compose, Android Views, Media3, etc.
  
  

API Integration

• Experience in working with RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of JSON and networking protocols (HTTP/HTTPS).
  
  

Room & Database Management

• Experience with Room, SQLite, or other database technologies for data persistence.
  
  

Memory Management

• Strong understanding of memory management in Android (lifecycle management, memory leaks, garbage collection, etc.).
  
  

Unit Testing and Debugging

• Knowledge of JUnit, Espresso for unit testing and debugging techniques.
  
  

Push Notifications & In-App Purchases

• Experience with Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), Google Play Billing, and integrating payment gateways.
  
  

Version Control (Git)

• Proficiency in Git for version control, including branching, merging, and managing pull requests.
  
  

Good To Have

Content Media Experience

• Experience working in the media, streaming, or content industry.
• Experience with video streaming protocols (HLS, DASH, DRM solutions) and media playback frameworks like MediaPLayer, ExoPlayer, etc.
  
  

Cloud & Backend Services

• Experience with Firebase services is a plus.
  
  

UI/UX Design Principles

• Understanding of Material Design Guidelines for Android and Android TV.
• Experience in designing responsive and intuitive user interfaces.
  
  

Continuous Integration (CI/CD)

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (using tools like Jenkins or GitLab).
  
  

Google Play Store Deployment & Distribution

• Experience with app signing, release management, and Google Play Store submission process.
