Education Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or higher with minimum 8 years of relevant experience.

The Senior Java Developer will play a technical leadership role, driving design decisions, ensuring non-functional requirements, mentoring teams, and delivering high-quality, scalable payment solutions. This role requires strong hands-on coding combined with architecture, code review, and team leadership responsibilities.

Your future duties and responsibilities

Design new product modules or major enhancements based on business requirements and high-level architecture

Own and drive non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, resiliency, security) for critical payment applications

Lead development teams working in an Agile environment

Actively implement critical components and review code produced by team members

Ensure code quality, maintainability, and performance

Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive root cause analysis

Gain deep understanding of the CGI Payment Hub product

Collaborate with architects, product owners, and cross-functional teams

Contribute to DevOps, CI/CD, and release readiness activities

Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role

Must-Have Skills:

General / Functional Skills

10+ years of hands-on Java / JavaEE development on mission-critical, high-performance transaction systems

Strong expertise in:

Java / JavaEE fundamentals and design principles

Microservices architecture

Spring / Spring Boot, REST APIs, Web Services

Kafka, Messaging, Hazelcast

Java multi-threading and asynchronous programming

File I/O, JAXP, JAXB, JPA, Annotations

Strong SQL and DBMS knowledge; ability to understand stored procedures

Experience with JMS, EJB 3.0

Unit testing using JUnit, Mockito

Strong debugging and log analysis skills

Experience with Docker and Kubernetes

Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Bamboo)

Experience leading distributed, international teams

Strong Agile and DevOps experience

Good-to-Have Skills:

Payments domain knowledge

UML modeling

Oracle PL/SQL, SQL tuning

GWT / Angular, Python
