CRM Data Migration Lead
(Microsoft Dynamics 365 / CRM)
Experience
8–12 years overall experience, with 5+ years leading CRM data migration initiatives on large enterprise transformation programs
Role Summary
The CRM Data Migration Lead is responsible for end‑to‑end planning, execution, governance, and validation of data migration activities for Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM implementations and upgrades. The role owns migration strategy, tools, sequencing, cutover planning, and data quality assurance, ensuring business continuity and data integrity during transformation programs.
Key Responsibilities
Migration Strategy & Planning
- Define overall data migration strategy (big‑bang, phased, parallel, delta) based on business constraints and data volumes
- Lead pre‑migration assessments of legacy CRM systems (data structures, dependencies, customizations)
- Identify master, transactional, historical, and archive data scope
- Prepare detailed migration plans, timelines, risk logs, and rollback strategies
Data Mapping & Transformation
- Own data mapping documents between source CRM and D365 entities
- Define transformation, cleansing, deduplication, and enrichment rules
- Validate entity relationships (parent–child, lookups) and data dependencies
- Ensure alignment with CRM configuration and security model
Migration Execution
- Lead migration execution using SSIS, KingswaySoft, DMF, custom ETL, APIs, or middleware
- Manage pilot migrations, iterative test cycles, and rehearsal runs
- Plan and execute cutover and delta migrations within agreed downtime windows
- Coordinate phased migrations by business unit, region, or data category
Data Validation & Quality Assurance
- Define validation framework (record counts, field accuracy, completeness, relationships)
- Coordinate with dedicated data migration QA teams for validation and reconciliation
- Review migration reports and obtain business sign‑off
- Ensure auditability and traceability of migrated data
Stakeholder & Team Leadership
- Act as the single point of contact for all data migration activities
- Work closely with CRM Architects, Functional Leads, Integration Teams, and Business SMEs
- Mentor migration developers and testers
- Communicate migration status, risks, and dependencies to program leadership
Mandatory Technical Skills
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM / CE data model knowledge
- Strong experience with CRM data migration tools (SSIS, KingswaySoft, DMF)
- SQL Server, data analysis, and reconciliation techniques
- CRM entities, relationships, security, and configuration dependencies
- Experience handling large data volumes and complex dependencies
Good to Have
- Experience migrating from Salesforce, JD Edwards, Siebel, SAP CRM
- Azure‑based migration approaches (Azure SQL, Data Lake, Logic Apps)
- Experience working in regulated industries (BFSI, Insurance, Manufacturing)
