Role Overview:

A business analyst plays a crucial role in shaping a product by clarifying its primary purposes, setting benchmarks like customer acquisition strategy and value proposition, and establishing basic KPIs. They evaluate implementation methods that best serve stakeholders and developers. Once business requirements are defined, they guide development planning by organizing workshops to allocate responsibilities. The BA also validates requirements to ensure development aligns with business goals and standardizes the workflow by gathering stakeholder feedback to facilitate continuous improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

Research Business Problems:

• Assess the existing business model.
  
• Identify the main pain points for business owners.
  
• Discover the market gap that needs filling or expansion.
  
• Incorporate findings into business requirements.

Identify Expected Business Value:

• Understand the product’s trajectory.
  
• Define the market niche intended for the product.

Create Visualized Concepts:

• Design interactions between system elements.
  
• Establish interaction methods between the product and its audience.

Draft Nonfunctional Requirements:

• Document expected system behavior.
  
• Define constraints on functionality.
  
• Include quality attributes like usability, security, reliability, performance, availability, and scalability.

Prepare Functional Requirements:

• Document product features for implementation.
  
• Ensure clarity for both developers and stakeholders.

Formulate the Main Backlog:

• Create a comprehensive to-do list.
  
• Reflect all discussed business aspects.

Story Mapping & Creation:

• Collaborate with product/project managers, stakeholders, UX designers, and development team representatives.
  
• Ensure user flow aligns with approved business value.

Document Acceptance Criteria:

• Ensure features satisfy stakeholders and end-users.
  
• Collaborate with the QA team for input.

Prioritize Backlog Items:

• Work with stakeholders to identify important or relevant tasks.

Set Up Preparation Activities:

• Oversee the pre-development process.
  
• Ensure sprint plans align with approved requirements and goals.

Track the Development Process:

• Participate in daily Scrum and Standup meetings.
  
• Monitor development to meet business requirements.

Gather and Process Feedback:

• Collect feedback from customers and users.
  
• Identify strengths and weaknesses of the product from a business perspective.

Formulate the Next Backlog:

• Use feedback to identify business issues for improvement, change, completion, or removal.
