Job Description

RPG project team is looking for a Business Analyst to support application landscape built on IBM iSeries (AS/400) using RPG LE, with Java-based APIs and UI layers for integration. The role focuses on analyzing business processes across car, van, and home insurance products, collaborating with both technical and business teams to define requirements, support development, and enable modernization efforts.

You will work closely with RPG architects, RPG engineers, UI developers, and quality engineers to ensure seamless translation of business needs into functional and technical specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and document current business processes and system behavior in IBM iSeries RPG LE-based applications across motor and property insurance lines.
• Elicit, validate, and document business requirements through workshops, observations, and document analysis.
• Create functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, use case diagrams, and process flow charts.
• Collaborate with RPG engineers to understand legacy system logic, dependencies, and data models.
• Work with UI and API developers to align backend services with frontend user experience and integration needs.
• Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring accurate understanding and implementation of requirements.
• Participate in sprint planning, grooming, and retrospectives in an Agile or hybrid delivery model.
• Support quality assurance efforts by reviewing test plans, validating test cases, and participating in UAT (User Acceptance Testing).
• Help define and drive modernization or enhancement initiatives involving legacy RPG systems and newer Java-based components.
• Maintain documentation and traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
  
  
  

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

Experience:

• 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in enterprise IT environments.
• 3+ years working with IBM iSeries / AS/400 platforms, particularly applications written in RPG IV / RPG LE.
• Hands-on experience with insurance products, especially personal lines (car, van, home).
• Proven experience working with cross-functional technical teams including legacy RPG developers, Java engineers, and testers.
  
  
  

Skills:

• Strong understanding of RPG LE logic, batch/interactive jobs, and data files/tables on IBM iSeries.
• Familiarity with Java APIs, REST/SOAP integration, and frontend/backend communication models.
• Proficient in business process modeling tools (e.g., Visio) and documentation platforms (e.g., Confluence, Jira).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with both business and technical stakeholders.
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to system modernization or digital transformation programs involving legacy RPG platforms.

Experience with Agile and hybrid delivery methodologies.

Understanding of insurance policy lifecycle processes (quotation, issuance, endorsement, claims).
