This role is on the Chronicle team within Selling Partner Services. We own the Turismo product suite, which is powered by Ripple, a dynamic query engine. Turismo is a well loved product, with 15k+ users globally. Ripple is a PrestoDB based query engine that is built to scale, and processes 2M+ queries per week. We are a full stack team, with Product managers, UX designers, TPMs, SDEs, DEs and Data Scientists.

We are seeking a Business Analyst who Owns the We are seeking a Business Analyst who will own the comprehensive metrics framework and metadata repository, serving as the central point of accountability for metric definitions, relationships, and data quality across business domains. This role acts as the primary liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, diving deep into customer inquiries to translate complex data questions into actionable insights while maintaining rigorous documentation of metric lineage and business context.

Key job responsibilities

Respond to customer questions across 12+ external and internal surfaces where Ripple metrics are used by Selling Partners and internal Amazonians, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of data inquiries

Develop deep expertise in the Ripple tech stack and conduct thorough deep dives into complex data issues, identifying root causes and providing comprehensive analysis

Write complex SQL queries and Python scripts to extract, transform, and analyze data from petabyte-scale data warehouses with a focus on query efficiency and performance optimization

Automate recurring deep dive analyses to enable customer self-service for frequently asked questions, reducing manual effort and improving response times

Own and maintain metadata in the Metric Knowledge Service (MKS), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and accessibility of metric definitions and relationships

Partner effectively with Product Managers and Selling Partners through excellent written and verbal communication, translating technical concepts into business language

Leverage expert proficiency in SQL, Excel, ETL processes, and data visualization tools (QuickSight, Power BI, or similar platforms) to transform raw data into actionable insights

Define business requirements and use data and metrics to draw meaningful insights that inform strategic initiatives

Manage large datasets while conducting advanced statistical analyses to support business decisions

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of business analyst, data analyst or similar role experience
• 5+ years of Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, power pivots, etc.) and data visualization tools such as Tableau experience
• 3+ years of business or financial analysis experience
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights
• Experience with Excel
• Experience with SQL
• Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders

• Experience in working with Redshift, Apache Spark, or AWS Athena
