Position Purpose And Objectives
We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive CAD Administrator to join our IT team. This individual will be responsible for providing daily support to end-users, diagnosing and resolving CAD-related issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of our design software.
The CAD Administrator will play a key role in helping to standard and optimize CAD processes across our enterprise. This includes managing and maintaining our Autodesk software environment, with a strong focus on Vault administration, and driving best practices for CAD usage, data management, and collaboration.
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise with Autodesk products, especially AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Inventor, and Vault. They will have a proven ability to collaborate effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders, helping to align CAD strategy with business objectives. This role requires a self-starter who is comfortable working independently, proactively identifying areas for improvement, and leading cross-functional initiatives to enhance CAD workflows.
Essential Responsibilities
- Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 4+ years of professional experience working as a CAD administrator or similar role.
- Hands-on expertise with the Autodesk software suite, including, but not limited to, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Inventor, Navisworks, Revit, Robot, and Vault.
- Experience working with and/or administering other CAD platforms (i.e. Bentley, PTC, and/or SOLIDWORKS) is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical problems effectively and efficiently.
- Strong initiative and self-directed attitude with minimal supervision.
- Ability and willingness to engage with global teams and stakeholders.
- Experience developing extensibilities for Autodesk products, with preference for Plant 3D, Inventor, and/or Vault is a plus.
- Experience developing and supporting parametric models using iLogic and/or third-party configurators (i.e. Tacton) is a plus.
Job Requirements / Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Provide daily support to end-users for all CAD software across the enterprise.
- Plan and support Autodesk implementations and upgrades, including configuration, maintenance, and user support.
- Lead development and standardization of CAD processes across the enterprise.
- Develop, document, and enforce CAD standards, templates, and best practices to ensure consistency and efficiency across teams.
- Work closely with engineering, design, and IT teams to optimize CAD workflows, improve collaboration, and support project delivery.
- Conduct training sessions and create user documentation to promote self-sufficiency and knowledge sharing among users.
- Support integration efforts between CAD software and other enterprise systems (i.e. Costpoint ERP, document management systems, etc.).
