How will you make an impact in this role?

Join the Cyber Engineering team at American Express as a Full Stack Developer in the Technology Risk and Information Security organization. As a key member of this team, you will have the opportunity to design and develop cutting-edge product capabilities utilizing emerging technologies, including Generative AI, to stay ahead of the evolving cyber threat landscape and protect American Express's digital assets.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Collaborate with the team to analyze user stories, develop responsive web applications, and deliver high-quality software products.
  
• Design, develop, and deploy full stack applications using modern frameworks and best practices with a strong emphasis on performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  
• Design and integrate Generative AI services and APIs into new and existing products to deliver innovative experiences.
  
• Develop reusable components and libraries, write clean, testable, and efficient code, and actively participate in peer code reviews.
  
• Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using modern testing frameworks.
  
• Drive a culture of experimentation, continuous learning, and innovation.
  
• Continuously refactor and optimize code for performance, maintainability, and testability, guided by real-time feedback from tools like Copilot.
  
• Work closely with product managers, back-end developers, and other front-end developers to deliver versatile solutions to complex web development challenges.
  
• Manage your own time effectively, prioritize tasks, and work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.
  
• Stay up-to-date with emerging standards and best practices and promote standard methodologies and consistent framework usage.
  

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associates or BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field (or equivalent 5+ years of work experience)
  
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Full Stack development with expertise in building scalable web products using Node.js.
  
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks such as Express, Next.js. Knowledge of Java and Python is a plus. 
  
• Experience with front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js, along with proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, Tailwind CSS and Material UI.
  
• Familiarity with Generative AI tools, libraries, or APIs (e.g., OpenAI, LangChain, LangGraph, AgenticAI, MCP Servers etc) and integrating them into real-world applications. 
  
• Proficiency in using GitHub Copilot or similar AI coding assistants for enhanced productivity and code quality.
  
• Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest or Cypress
  
• Competence in using version control tools like Git with collaborative workflows (pull requests, code reviews, branching strategies).
  
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes; understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
  
• Knowledge browser extension development is a plus.
  
• Ability to work in a fast-paced agile environment, adapt quickly to change, and handle multiple priorities.
  
• Strong problem-solving skills, communication abilities, and a passion for innovation and teamwork.
