The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines that support advanced AI and Forecasting solutions. Interfacing with various source systems, this role utilizes PySpark, SQL, and Databricks to feed clean data to forecasting models. Operating within a data science context, the ideal candidate will thrive in an analytics-driven environment and demonstrate an aptitude for bridging the gap between data engineering and data science. This position works under general supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement data pipelines to cleanse and transform data in preparation for feeding to AI/Forecastin g and Price Optimization Products.
- Collaborate closely with Data Scientists to support feature engineering and operationalize forecasting models.
- Develop efficient and robust data transformation code in PySpark.
- Build and maintain workflows to automate data pipelines using tools such as Databricks and Airflow.
- Optimize performance of data pipelines to ensure minimal cost.
- Develop data validation tests to assess the quality of the input data.
- Conduct performance testing and profiling of the code using a variety of tools and techniques.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for data pipelines and architecture.
- Minimum Education:
- Bachelors, Master's or Ph.D. Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
- Minimum Work Experience (years):
- 3+ years of experience programming with at least one of the following languages: Python,
Scala, Go.
- 3+ years of experience in SQL and data transformation and hads on expereince on databricks & Pyspark.
- 3+ years of experience in developing distributed systems using open source technologies
such as Spark and Dask.
- 3+ years of experience with relational databases or NoSQL databases running in Linux
environments (MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
- Key Skills and Competencies:
- Experience working with AWS / Azure / GCP environment is highly desired.
- Experience in data models in the Retail and Consumer products industry is desired.
- Experience working on agile projects and understanding of agile concepts is desired.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in technical communications.
- Ability to work and achieve stretch goals in a very innovative and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
- Ability to telework.
