Data Engineer III, Platform Insights

Candidates for this position are preferred to be based in Bangalore, India and will be expected to comply with their team's hybrid work schedule requirements.

We are looking for a passionate Data Engineer to join the Developer Platform Insights team. Developer Platform Insights is responsible for providing the entire technology organization with curated, analytics-ready data products for cloud cost management, incident management, developer productivity, and platform usage. We own the full data lifecycle within our space from extraction of data from cloud providers, infrastructure, and third party vendors through to standardized reports for leadership and data exploration tooling using Looker. Our efforts allow the technology organization to optimize its use of the cloud, improve the stability of Wayfair’s customer and supplier websites, and remove bottlenecks across the software development lifecycle.

In this role you will be working with individuals inside and outside your immediate team to build data products that provide insight into developer platform health and performance at Wayfair. The individual will need to collaborate with multiple teams to build sophisticated data pipelines and address stakeholder knowledge problems. As part of our team, you will be solving complex problems that have a direct impact on the entire technology organization and our end-customers.

What You’ll Do:

• Own the technical architecture, design, and implementation of analytics ready data products and self-service solutions.
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to define and develop business intelligence solutions to solve real user problems.
• Act as a subject matter expert to stakeholders for technical guidance around solution design and best practices.
• Keep current on big data, data visualization, and cloud technology trends, evaluate, work on proof-of-concepts and make merit-based recommendations on technologies

We Are a Match Because You Have:

• Bachelor's or Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, or another quantitative discipline.
• Excellent design and architectural skills with strong fundamentals in system design, data structures and algorithms (6+ years or equivalent track-record).
• Experience at SQL-based ETL development, and experienced with Python, Java, or equivalent scripting language.
• Experience developing in cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (preferred), AWS, Azure, or Snowflake at scale.
• Experience architecting data solutions utilizing Bl tools like Looker, Tableau, AtScale, PowerBI, or any similar tools.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, strong business acumen, critical thinking, and ability to work cross functionally through collaboration with engineering and business partners.
• 6+ years of Data Architecture experience working in partnership with large data sets
• Capability to collaborate with cross functional teams in a dynamic fast paced environment with an inclusive, adaptable and persuasive communication style.
• Result oriented mindset with the ability to quickly translate business requirements into working features.
