DevOps Engineer - ABAP Infrastructure Platforms (US Shift)

What You'll Build

The ABAP Infrastructure Platforms team is expanding its global Operations footprint to Bangalore and is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join its global operations setup. In this role, you will work independently on key operational responsibilities while collaborating closely with engineering teams in India, the USA, and Germany. You will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, availability, and lifecycle management of ABAP Cloud systems running on SAP’s cloud infrastructure.

Monitor and maintain system health, performance, and availability across global ABAP Cloud tenants.

• Manage incidents end-to-end, including initial root-cause analysis, and collaborate with senior engineers and development teams for resolution.
• Execute upgrades, patches, and lifecycle management activities following established runbooks and operational guidelines.
• Support tenant provisioning, deprovisioning, and recovery or rollback activities as needed.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance automation scripts and operational tools using Python, Jenkins, and related technologies.
• Collaborate with development teams to support deployments, integrations, and operational readiness for ABAP-based cloud applications.
• Contribute to operational documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Participate in shift rotations, including US shift hours, to support global operations and customer needs.
  
  

4–6 years of experience in DevOps, cloud operations, or similar technical roles.

• Strong experience in system monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident management.
• Exposure to scripting and automation tools like Python, Shell, Jenkins, etc.
• Working knowledge of monitoring frameworks like Grafana.
• Exposure to containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with global, cross‑functional teams.
• A structured, analytical approach to problem-solving.
• Nice to have: Experience working with SAP BTP or ABAP‑based cloud environments.
