Location: India (Onsite – working with the India QA team)
Reporting To: Engineering Team, California
Job Summary
We are seeking for a "Embedded Software Engineer - Field Support" to be onsite in our India office, working closely with our California-based engineering team. This role will focus on troubleshooting field issues related to edge devices and ensuring smooth operation of bare-metal and Linux-based systems. The ideal candidate should have strong debugging skills, experience with Zigbee, embedded systems, and software troubleshooting, and be comfortable working across multiple technologies, including C and JavaScript.

The ideal candidate should have strong debugging skills, experience with Zigbee, embedded systems, and software troubleshooting, and be comfortable working across multiple technologies, including C and JavaScript.
Key Responsibilities
Onsite Support & Troubleshooting:
- Work onsite with the India QA team to investigate and troubleshoot hardware and software issues in edge devices.
- Identify, log, and debug issues in both bare-metal (C) and Linux-based (JavaScript) applications.
- Collaborate with the California engineering team to relay findings, test patches, and implement fixes.
- Perform diagnostics, root cause analysis, and issue replication in a controlled environment.
- Act as a bridge between the India QA team and the California development team, ensuring seamless coordination.
- Provide detailed reports on field issues, including log analysis, test results, and recommended solutions.
- Work closely with the QA team to validate fixes before deployment.
- Participate in stand-up meetings, bug triages, and sprint planning with global teams.
- Monitor device performance, logs, and error reports to identify potential field issues before escalation.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation for debugging procedures, troubleshooting guides, and issue tracking.
- Assist in training QA team members on device behavior, debugging techniques, and system interactions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in field service, embedded systems, or software debugging.
- Strong knowledge of Zigbee protocol and embedded systems.
- Experience debugging bare-metal firmware (C) and Linux-based applications (JavaScript).
- Familiarity with Linux environments, including shell scripting and log analysis.
- Experience with serial communication, debugging tools, and firmware updates.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating with global teams.
- Experience with wireless communication protocols (Zigbee, Wi-Fi, MQTT, etc.).
- Exposure to embedded Linux and real-time debugging tools.
- Basic knowledge of DevOps tools for remote device management.
- Prior experience working in a QA environment or supporting software testing teams.
- Work Schedule: India business hours with flexibility for occasional syncs with the California team.
- Location: Onsite in our India office, working with the QA team.
- Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be required for field troubleshooting.
