Job Summary**

Ciena is seeking highly motivated and talented individuals to join our Engineering Intern Program. As an EIC Software Engineer Intern, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of cutting-edge software solutions within a dynamic engineering team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a leading global networking company.

Job Responsibilities**

• Assist in the design, development, and testing of software features for Ciena's networking products and solutions.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to understand project requirements and contribute to technical discussions.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following established coding standards.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Debug and troubleshoot software issues, identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
• Contribute to the creation and execution of automated tests to ensure software quality.
• Learn and apply new technologies, tools, and methodologies relevant to software development.
• Document technical specifications, design documents, and test plans as required.
• Actively participate in team meetings and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
  
  

Job Qualifications**

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Strong foundational understanding of software development principles and data structures.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., C, C++ or Python).
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Basic understanding of networking concepts is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
