Job Overview

We are seeking a Front-End Developer with a passion for building fast, user-friendly websites using modern tools. In this role, you will work primarily with Astro (a modern static site framework), deploying on Vercel, automating workflows with GitHub Actions, and integrating content from a headless CMS. You’ll collaborate with designers, SEO specialists, and content teams to deliver an exceptional web experience. Key Responsibilities

• Front-End Development: Develop and maintain the front-end of our website using the Astro framework along with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript. Build reusable UI components and layouts that are scalable and easy to maintain.
• CMS Integration: Integrate the website with a headless CMS, pulling in content via APIs (REST/GraphQL) and rendering it in Astro. Ensure dynamic content (blog posts, pages, etc.) is displayed correctly and efficiently.
• Performance Optimization: Continuously optimize the site for maximum speed and scalability. Improve Core Web Vitals (LCP, FID, CLS) and aim for excellent Lighthouse scores by implementing best practices in code-splitting, asset optimization, lazy loading, and caching.
• SEO Best Practices: Implement modern SEO optimizations in the front-end – including semantic HTML, proper meta tags, structured data, and ensuring fast load times – to improve search engine visibility and ranking.
• CI/CD Pipeline: Set up and maintain continuous integration and deployment workflows using GitHub Actions. Automate build processes, run tests (if applicable), and ensure smooth deployments for all front-end updates.
• Vercel Deployment: Deploy and manage the website on Vercel. Utilize Vercel features like preview deployments for testing PRs and ensure production builds are stable and performant.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with UI/UX designers to translate design mockups into pixel-perfect, responsive web pages. Collaborate with SEO specialists to implement their recommendations, and coordinate with content writers/editors to plan for new page layouts and features.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure cross-browser compatibility and responsive design across various devices and screen sizes. Identify and fix front-end bugs or performance issues promptly, maintaining a high-quality user experience.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest front-end technologies and Astro updates. Propose and implement improvements to our development workflow, tooling, or architecture to enhance productivity and site quality.

Required Skills & Experience

• Astro & Static Site Generators: Hands-on experience building websites with Astro (preferred) or similar frameworks like Next.js, Gatsby, or other static site generators. You understand the JAMstack approach and generating highly performant static pages.
• Front-End Proficiency: Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. Experience with TypeScript and modern JS frameworks or libraries (especially React, and ideally knowledge of frameworks Astro can use like Vue or Svelte) is highly valued.
• Web Performance Optimization: Deep understanding of modern web performance best practices. Familiarity with Core Web Vitals metrics and proven methods to improve them. Experience using tools like Google Lighthouse, PageSpeed Insights, or Webpagetest to diagnose and fix performance and SEO issues.
• Headless CMS Integration: Experience working with headless CMS platforms (e.g. Contentful, Sanity, Prismic, etc.). Able to fetch and handle content via RESTful or GraphQL APIs and render it on the front-end.
• Deployment & CI/CD: Knowledge of deploying front-end applications on Vercel or similar platforms (Netlify, AWS Amplify, etc.). Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines; in particular, familiarity with GitHub Actions to automate tasks like builds, tests, and deployments.
• Version Control: Proficient with Git and GitHub workflows. Comfortable collaborating in a team using pull requests, code reviews, and issue tracking.
• SEO & Accessibility: Good understanding of SEO best practices and basic accessibility standards. Know how to build pages with semantic markup and proper structuring that benefit SEO and are accessible to all users.
• Problem Solving: Strong debugging and problem-solving skills for front-end issues. Ability to troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, rendering quirks, and integration issues quickly and effectively.
• Experience Plus: Bonus points if you have experience with Tailwind CSS or other CSS frameworks, Node.js for build scripts, or writing tests for front-end code. (These are nice-to-have, not strict requirements.)

• Collaboration: Excellent team player who can work closely with cross-functional teams. You communicate effectively with designers, content editors, SEO/marketing specialists, and backend developers to gather requirements and drive projects to completion.
• Communication: Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear manner. You provide timely updates on progress and are not afraid to ask questions or push back when something can be improved.
• Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail, ensuring that the implemented designs match the mockups and that content is displayed correctly. You care about delivering polished, high-quality user interfaces and catching issues before they go live.
• Adaptability: Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies or workflows. Astro is a quickly evolving ecosystem, so a growth mindset and willingness to stay updated is important.
• Ownership & Drive: Self-motivated and proactive in identifying areas of improvement. You take ownership of your projects, manage your time effectively, and meet deadlines consistently.
