ABOUT FINANSHELS
Finanshels is a fast-growing fintech company building the Financial Operating System for SMEs across the MENA region. We automate accounting and tax operations, deliver real-time financial health insights, and connect businesses with skilled finance professionals on demand. Our product operates across multiple UAE regulatory frameworks, and we are building it with a small, high-ownership, AI-native engineering team.

THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a senior full stack engineer to take end-to-end ownership of core product modules — from database schema and API design through to a polished user experience. You will make architectural decisions that hold up under real financial pressure, ship meaningful features fast, and help raise the engineering bar as we scale. This is a hands-on, high-trust role where correctness and speed both matter.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Own Modules End-to-End. Design, build, and maintain core product features across the NestJS backend and Next.js frontend — from schema to screen.
• Design for Correctness. Model financial data and APIs with the accuracy, idempotency, and auditability that fintech demands.
• Shape the Architecture. Help evolve our modular monolith toward microservices and event-driven patterns where they add real value.
• Cloud Infrastructure. Deploy and operate services on GCP (migrating to AWS), ensuring reliability and cost efficiency.
• Raise the Quality Bar. Write clean, well-tested code; contribute to automated testing, code review, and security scanning.
• Work AI-First. Use AI coding tools daily to move fast, while applying senior judgment to review and harden AI-generated code on financial paths.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally. Partner with product, design, and QA to turn requirements into reliable, shippable software.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Experience. 4+ years building and shipping production web applications as a full stack developer.
• TypeScript End-to-End. Deep proficiency in TypeScript across both frontend and backend.
• Core Stack. Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and NestJS on the backend, and React and Next.js on the frontend.
• Databases. Solid PostgreSQL skills — schema design, query optimization, and experience with an ORM such as TypeORM, including migrations.
• Cloud. Hands-on experience with GCP or AWS (we run GCP today and are migrating to AWS).
• Architecture. Sound understanding of microservices and event-driven architecture, and the judgment to know when to apply them.
• Engineering Rigor. A genuine bias toward well-tested, secure, maintainable code and an appreciation for why correctness matters in financial systems.
• Communication. Comfortable owning problems end-to-end and communicating clearly across functions in a remote-first team.

• Frontend: Next.js (App Router), TypeScript, React
• Backend: NestJS, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, TypeORM
• Cloud: GCP (migrating to AWS — EC2, RDS, ECS)
• Architecture: Modular monolith evolving toward microservices and event-driven design
• Tooling: AI-native development (Cursor, Claude Code), Playwright, CI-enforced security scanning

• Prior experience in fintech, payments, banking, or another regulated domain.
