Gen AI Engineer - Controls Technology

Job Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Generative AI Engineer to join our Controls Technology team and work under the guidance of the Gen AI Lead. This role is hands-on and will focus on designing, developing, fine-tuning, and deploying AI/ML models to build scalable, enterprise-grade Generative AI solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in AI/ML, a deep understanding of LLMs, and proficiency in AI development frameworks.

As a Gen AI Engineer, you will be responsible for experimenting with new AI techniques, optimizing models for performance and efficiency, integrating AI into cloud architectures, and implementing AI-driven automation. This position is perfect for someone passionate about AI/ML and eager to contribute to the next generation of AI-powered solutions in a structured and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

AI/ML Model Development:

• Develop, fine-tune, and optimize Large Language Models (LLMs) and machine learning models for Generative AI applications.
• Implement LLM fine-tuning techniques such as LoRA, QLoRA, Adapter Tuning, and Prefix Tuning.
• Optimize AI models using quantization techniques like GPTQ, AWQ, and leverage optimized inference engines such as vLLM, DeepSpeed, FP6-LLM.
• Work on Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) methods, including hybrid search, multi-vector retrieval, query expansion, re-ranking, and relevance filtering.
• Enhance AI/NLP models with Named Entity Recognition (NER), Dependency Parsing, Text Classification, and Topic Modeling.

AI Development & Integration:

• Build and deploy AI/ML models in cloud environments, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
• Work with TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Keras for model training, optimization, and deployment.
• Develop MLOps pipelines for continuous training, evaluation, and monitoring of AI models.
• Implement Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration of AI services.
• Create and maintain RESTful APIs for AI model integration into enterprise applications.
• Ensure secure and responsible AI development, adhering to corporate AI governance policies.

Data Engineering & Processing:

• Preprocess, clean, and transform large-scale structured and unstructured datasets for AI/ML training.
• Work with vector databases and embedding techniques to improve model retrieval performance.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers and Cloud Architects to ensure seamless AI integration into existing data pipelines.

AI Experimentation & Research:

• Stay up to date with emerging AI trends, research papers, and cutting-edge AI technologies.
• Experiment with new architectures and training methodologies to improve AI performance.
• Prototype and evaluate different AI model configurations to enhance efficiency and reduce latency.

Required Technical Skills

Core AI/ML Expertise:

• Strong understanding of machine learning concepts and proficiency in training, tuning, and optimizing AI models.
• Experience with LLMs, Generative AI, and NLP techniques.
• Hands-on expertise in TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Keras for AI development.
• Proficiency in fine-tuning LLMs, instruction tuning, and applying Prompt Engineering best practices.
• Familiarity with model quantization and optimization frameworks for efficient AI deployment.
• Strong grasp of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector databases, and search techniques.

Cloud, DevOps & AI Deployment:

• Experience deploying AI/ML models in AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud environments.
• Proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines for AI/ML deployment.
• Familiarity with distributed training and parallel processing techniques for scalable AI solutions.
• Understanding of MLOps best practices for automated model training, validation, and monitoring.

Programming & Data Engineering:

• Strong programming skills in Python with experience using AI/ML libraries (Hugging Face, Scikit-learn, Transformers, LangChain, LlamaIndex, etc.).
• Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases for data storage and retrieval.
• Knowledge of data preprocessing, feature engineering, and handling large-scale datasets.
• Experience working with APIs and microservices for AI model integration.

AI Governance & Responsible AI:

• Basic knowledge of AI compliance, security, and governance frameworks.
• Understanding of bias mitigation, explainability, and fairness in AI models.
• Awareness of corporate AI policies and best practices for responsible AI development.

Soft Skills & Collaboration:

• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize AI solutions.
• Effective communication skills to document work and collaborate with AI leads, engineers, and business teams.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an agile environment.
• Curiosity and eagerness to learn new AI techniques and technologies.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in AI/ML development, with hands-on experience in Generative AI projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Experience working with cloud-based AI services (AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus.
• A strong portfolio or GitHub showcasing AI/ML projects will be highly valued.
