Java Backend Developer

Overview

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance microservices using Java in a modern backend environment.
• Architect and optimize data pipelines and storage solutions that power AI-driven products.
• Collaborate closely with AI, data, and platform teams to productionize machine learning models.
• Build and maintain integrations with external services and APIs to enable scalable, interoperable systems.
• Ensure security, scalability, reliability, and observability across distributed systems.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to architectural decisions for next-generation platforms.
• Provide technical leadership, including design reviews and code reviews that raise quality and performance standards.
• Mentor engineers and help build a growth-oriented engineering culture focused on experimentation, learning, and accountability.
• Drive best practices in system design, performance optimization, and fault tolerance.
  
  

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years of professional backend engineering experience, including 5+ years building and maintaining scalable Java-based systems.
• Strong experience with Java (Spring Boot, Micronaut, or similar frameworks) and microservices architectures.
• Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Proven ability to design highly available, secure, and data-intensive systems.
• Excellent communication skills and experience working in global, cross-functional teams.
  
  

• Startup experience, especially building products from 0 to 1
• Exposure to AI/ML-powered systems, data engineering, or large-scale data processing.
• Experience in healthcare, fintech, or other regulated domains.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, Pulsar, RabbitMQ).
