Java Backend Software Engineer - API Developer

The Digital S/W Engineer Intmd Analyst, ideally an intermediate full-stack software engineer, who is passionate about solving business problems through innovation and engineering practices. This role will be responsible for implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team, paired with other developers as appropriate while working as a strong contributor on an agile team. From a technical standpoint, the Software Engineer has full-stack coding and implementation responsibilities and adheres to best practice principles, including modern cloud-based software development, agile and scrum, code quality, and tool usage

Responsibilities:

As an Intermediate Application Developer, you will contribute to the design, development, and implementation of applications across multiple platforms (Java, Spring Boot, EMS, Kafka, MQ, etc.). You will:

• Translate application designs into well-structured, secure, testable, and maintainable code.
• Develop small-scale features and functions independently, and contribute to larger program efforts.
• Perform application systems analysis and programming, including feasibility studies, cost/time estimates, and implementation.
• Write unit tests and integrate code into the CI/CD pipeline (e.g., Jenkins, Git).
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with minimal guidance.
• Understand application development concepts and principles, and gain familiarity with related technologies (e.g., risk technology, middleware, mainframe/non-mainframe applications).
• Learn system functionality, architecture, dependencies, and runtime properties, including business requirements and customer use cases.
• Participate in solution discussions, system design reviews, and documentation creation.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate effectively with team members, manager, and peers.
• Contribute to improving team processes, accelerating delivery, and enhancing code quality.
• Adhere to Citi's risk and compliance policies and regulations.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Minimum 4-7 years in an Apps Development role with demonstrated execution capabilities.
• Hands-on experience in backend technologies: Java, Spring Boot, and Microservice Architecture.
• Experience in any one the containerization technologies: OpenShift, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP etc.
• Familiarity with DevOps concepts, tools and continuous delivery pipelines: Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Tekton, Harness, Jira, etc.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; Data driven and results-oriented.
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
• Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.
• Good to Have: Knowledge/Proficiency in leveraging Generative AI/LLM technologies for application development.
