Operations Technology

Operations Technology develops and maintains systems in support of Morgan Stanley's global Operations , including (but not limited to) Settlements, Confirmations, Regulatory Reporting, Position Keeping, Corporate Actions processing and other post-trade functions. Operations Technology is a global organization that is client-focused and functionally aligned. Our organization is built to support our clients functional, regional and business-facing requirements while delivering innovative technology and ensuring plant and processing stability. The Firm operates at scale with up to 40 million trades processed on peak volume days and hundreds of billions of dollars of daily settlements with activity ongoing in multiple countries and currencies across the globe. There is a great breadth of financial products that our Operations plant handles across equity and fixed income, from cash products to complex derivatives and loans.

What You’ll Do In The Role

We are looking for a developer who can contribute to regulatory reporting strategic platform renovation to establish a robust and flexible platform Cloud infrastructure to support the regulatory reporting business functions.This platform is designed to replace the existing bespoke local applications as well as legacy mainframe processes and have direct dependency to the Morgan Stanley’s firm-wide global legacy modernization initiative.

• Work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that provides exposure to many areas of business
• Understand business needs, facilitating and developing process workflow, data requirements, and specifications required to support implementation
• Develop technical specifications, high level detailed design, testing strategies, and implementation plans from business requirements
• Manage end-to-end systems development cycle from requirements analysis, coding, testing, UAT and maintenance
• Build strong relationships with business facing technology teams and business partners
• Work with talented software developers who are passionate about identifying patterns and building common solutions
  
  

What You’ll Bring To The Role

The candidate should be a developer with working experience in Java application development. The candidate should have good communication skills, problem solving skills and business analysis skills.

• 6+ years of strong proficiency in Core JAVA / J2EE and understanding OOP
• Good knowledge on common Java frameworks and technologies, including Spring Framework, Hibernate / JPA.
• Experience on web services, including knowledge of REST / SOAP / XML/ JSON
• Web UI experience using HTML5, JavaScript or Angular is preferred.
• Strong data analytical skills (SQL)
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and professional approach
• Financial industry knowledge is preferred.
• Knowledge of trades data, positions data, reference data.
• Familiar with Linux / Unix environment, including working with shell, ssh and / or other command line tools.
• Experience working in medium to large-scale development projects
• Experience with Cloud native technologies is highly preferred
• Experience with BigData design/development with Spark ecosystem is highly preferred
• Experience in modern DevOps SDLC process (e.g. CI/CD pipeline,
• At least 6 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role.
