About the role

Orica is looking for a skilled and driven AI Engineer Lead to lead the delivery of AI and analytics initiatives within our DAI Delivery team. This role blends technical leadership, hands-on engineering, and collaboration across R&D, Engineering, and Data Platforms. You’ll be responsible for managing AI model operations, developing computer vision datasets, deploying agentic AI infrastructure, and mentoring engineers.

What you will be doing

• Manage and optimize AI models, including performance monitoring, retraining, and deployment.
• Build and label datasets for computer vision projects (classification, detection, segmentation).
• Deploy agentic AI infrastructure on cloud platforms using CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop AI applications using frameworks like LangGraph, Copilot Studio, Microsoft Autogen, and Google ADK.
• Mentor and upskill engineers on AI workloads and best practices.
• Define project scope and success criteria with stakeholders.
• Lead Agile project execution and manage risks, dependencies, and reporting.
• Ensure quality assurance and continuous improvement across deliverables.

What you will bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; postgraduate qualifications in AI or Data Science are a plus.
• At least 5 years of experience in engineering application deployment and project delivery.
• Strong Python skills (OOP), AI deployment experience, and software architecture knowledge.
• Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., JIRA, ServiceNow).
• Experience with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud) and enterprise systems (e.g., SAP).
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
