The Global Capability Center (GCC) IT department contains platform teams who are members of the four Petro technical digital platforms and IT Foundation Platform including Surface, Subsurface, Wells (Drilling), and Health, Safety, Environment (HSE), and IT Foundation Digital (ITFP). These teams operate in a matrix environment with priorities determined by global Product Owners and Product Managers.
About This Position:
The Global Capability Center (GCC) Cloud Engineer IIoT- Connected Worker is a key technical engineer accountable for delivery and support of products and services to Chevron workforce. The product team is part of the Operations Technology Product line within the IT Foundation Digital Platform. This Product line is responsible for digital delivery and support of Operations Technology(OT) products and services to the Chevron Enterprise.
Key responsibilities:
The Role: As a Lead IIoT Cloud Engineer you’ll have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and engage in a wide range of global projects and initiatives. These experiences will allow you to gain valuable expertise in areas such as automation, operating systems, Azure networking, security, and resource management. To be a successful IIoT cloud engineer, you should be able to identify the most optimal cloud-based solutions for our digital platforms and maintain cloud infrastructures in accordance with best practices and company security policies. You understand the nuances of different cloud solutions (hybrid, public, private, multi-cloud, on-prem) and implications for solution design. The IIoT Cloud Engineer will apply excellent troubleshooting skills, stay current with industry trends, and must be a team player.

As a Lead IIoT Cloud Engineer, you will:
- Maintain and troubleshoot Azure/On-prem environments and services
- Design and implement application security for Azure cloud and On-prem native solutions
- Collaborate with software engineering and development teams to evaluate and identify optimal cloud solutions.
- Modify and improve existing systems and services.
- Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud technologies and initiatives.
- Design, develop, and deploy modular cloud-based systems.
- Develop and maintain cloud solutions in accordance with best practices.
- Support and troubleshoot field installations of sensors in partnership with BU SMEs and Ops
- Understand end to end workflows from sensors to end-user dashboards and support development of complete device lifecycle management
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or comparable field
- 10-15 years of relevant work experience, and 5+ years of work experience in cloud engineering in cloud IIoT solutions, services, and or infrastructure
- Provide mentorship to junior members of the team
- Strong communication skills. Ability to be well-organized, clear and concise in conversations and written communications.
- Self-driven, can work with minimal supervision
- Ability to prioritize tasks and quickly adjust in a rapidly changing environment
- Team player who exhibits effective interpersonal skills with a collaborative style
- English language (Advanced)
- Experience with LoRaWAN eco-system a plus, including Things Networks implementation and deployment support
- Understanding of/experience with Ignition, SparkPlug B, MQTT, MSFT IIoT
- Experience with wired and wireless sensor field implementation and Oil & Gas requirements (operating temperature, hazardous area classification, power requirements, …)
- Understanding of ML/AI/GenAI capabilities applied to IIoT solutions
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1:30pm to 10:30pm.
