POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Development Manager to lead a small agile team of talented backend, frontend, and test automation engineers. This team is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions in the veterinary diagnostics domain. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality software products on time. Experience in veterinary diagnostics or related fields is highly preferred.
This role integrates Devops - i.e. you will be both developing, deploying, supporting and monitoring the running cloud applications.
An important part of the role is to engage directly with technical leadership in Dx Product development. So excellent written and oral communication skills are required. The role has end-to-end software ownership of design definition, implementation, and documentation of the delivered application.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

* Team Leadership & Development:
o Hiring and staffing
o Lead, mentor, and manage a cross-functional team of backend, frontend, and test automation engineers.

Technical Oversight:
* Provide technical guidance and direction to ensure the team adheres to best practices in software development.
* Oversee code quality, architecture, and design to ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance.
* Collaborate with the team to identify technical challenges and provide solutions.

Delivery Management:
* Own and drive the end-to-end delivery of software products, from concept to production.
* Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and with high quality.
* Manage project timelines, resources, and priorities effectively.
* Continuously improve delivery processes by implementing agile methodologies and practices.

Agile Methodology:
* Lead the team in adopting and improving agile practices, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming.
* Work closely with Product Owners to prioritize work, refine requirements, and ensure alignment with business goals.

Collaboration & Communication:
* Collaborate with stakeholders, including product management, quality assurance, and operations teams, to define product requirements and deliver features.
* Communicate project status, risks, and issues to senior management and stakeholders regularly.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Indicate the formal education, certification or license required and/or preferred. Include the minimum number of years of relevant experience required for the position (where legally permissible).
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
* 7+ years of experience in software delivery, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
* Prior experience in the veterinary diagnostics industry or a related field.
* Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or similar agile certification is a plus.
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Indicate the technical skills required and/or preferred, as applicable.
Technical Expertise:
* Strong background in software delivery with experience in both backend and frontend development.
* Familiarity and knowledge with modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g., JavaScript, React, React Native, C#).
* Familiarity and knowledge with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and microservices architecture.
* Familiarity and knowledge with automated testing frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, Cypress).
* Familiarity and knowledge with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and DevOps practices.
Veterinary Diagnostics Domain Knowledge:
* Understanding of veterinary diagnostics, including lab systems, data management, and regulatory compliance, is highly desirable.
* Experience working on software products in the healthcare, life sciences, or veterinary fields is a strong plus.
Leadership & Project Management:
* Proven experience leading agile teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
* Strong project management skills with experience in delivering complex software projects.
* Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
