Overview

Job Summary

  • Standard Chartered Bank is expanding its Market Risk Technology team to help drive business initiatives within the Financial Markets Technology investment programme.
  • We are seeking an experienced Market Risk Business Analyst to take a key role in supporting the existing Market Risk infrastructure and delivering the next generation of risk reporting and analysis tools.
  • In this role, you will be tasked with developing productive working relationships with Market Risk & FO business stakeholders (e.g. Risk Managers, Market Risk Operations, FO) in Singapore, HK, China, India, UK and other locations to ensure that their business requirements are captured and implemented accurately, as well as within the Bank’s IT community, to ensure close cooperation and mutual support.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy

  • The candidate will need to ensure we are working towards delivering our overall strategy in addition to the delivery of projects. The Scorecards set out by our senior management are measured and tracked to ensure we are moving in the strategic direction.

Business

  • 5 years previous experience as a Market Risk Business Analyst in an IT environment, or in a Market Risk environment with strong IT exposure.
  • Market Risk knowledge covering VaR, ES, sensitivity analysis, stress testing, and risk explain. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge across multiple asset classes.
  • Experience in regulatory engagement, regulatory reporting and/or addressing regulatory requirements e.g. Basel regulatory framework, CRD IV, BCBS239, FRTB.
  • Analysis and design of Market Risk databases, Use of BI tools to produce Market Risk reports.
  • Strong analytical & problem solving and creative skills. Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of MDX including advanced dashboard design and MDX optimisation.
  • Prior use of Jira and Confluence

Processes

  • The candidate will need to follow Ways of Working and the associated Agile processes to deliver Business Initiatives for our clients.
  • Data integration and a good understanding of ETLs which read and enrich data from various data formats such as CSV, JSON, XML, Parquet, Avro, OLAP etc

People & Talent

  • This is not a people leader role

Risk Management

  • Risks, Issues, Dependencies, Assumptions and Actions will need to be raised, monitored, controlled, and actioned upon. We need to ensure compliance with the Operation Risk policies when delivering projects.

Governance

  • Ensure Compliance in terms of mandatory training, project governance and also in terms of following the Systems Delivery Framework to ensure the correct evidence and artefacts are captured prior to deploying solutions to production.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Qualifications

  • A good degree in a numeric, scientific, or accounting, finance from a reputable university.
  • CFA or FRM are nice to have.
