Network Engineer

Overview

The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, management, and troubleshooting of the campus-wide network infrastructure. This role ensures high availability, performance, and security of all network systems to support the academic and administrative functions of the college.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, configure, and manage LAN, WAN, VLANs, and wireless networks across the campus.
• Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, access points, and other network hardware.
• Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
• Troubleshoot network issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement solutions promptly.
• Maintain and update network documentation, diagrams, and inventories.
• Ensure network security through proper configuration, monitoring, and timely patching.
• Manage bandwidth and optimize internet and intranet usage.
• Provide network access and support for classrooms, labs, faculty, students, and events.
• Coordinate with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and vendors for service delivery and maintenance.
• Support VoIP systems, surveillance systems, and biometric attendance systems.
• Assist in implementing disaster recovery and backup plans related to network systems.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, IT, or a related field.

(Diploma with relevant experience may also be considered.)

• 2+ years of hands-on experience as a network engineer or in a similar role.
• Certifications like CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Solid understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
• Experience with Cisco/HP/D-Link or similar network equipment.
