Overview
Job PurposeThe IT Engineer II will be responsible for the realization of the customer’s Build, Design and Setup of the network through the Delivery Implementation process. The Engineer will be well versed in various network technologies while maintaining an expert level of competency in network systems and topology to be supported by Lumen. The Engineer will work with the Provisioner, Customer Care Manager & Sales Engineer to validate the commercial design and setup to fulfill the client’s desired solution. The Engineer will have in depth and working knowledge of the Lumen Network products and architectures.
Position Objectives
- Primary support on Testing, Activation and Hot cut with a 1 st time success rate that is within the set target of customer delivery.
- Review of the technical documentation in which the Engineer then use to execute the orders to completion.
- Provide technical guidance to the Customer Care Manager and Sale Engineer enabling them to execute on complex network designs .
- Support Global Customer Service Team and Fault Resolution Activation Team on any Post Sale cases/issue terminated in APAC region.
- Troubleshoot & resolve any issue arising out of the build and activation activities.
- Mandatory to provide out of APAC Business Hours Coverage Support including weekends
- Stagger shift to cover either (Sun to Thu) and (Tue – Sat)
- Time coverage (4PM - 1AM SGT ie 1:30PM 10:30 IST)
- Work with the Provisioner and Customer Care Manager to assure quality delivery.
- Ensure solutions can be built, installed to meet the client’s needs and meet the customers’ expectations
- Obtain training in new products and technologies so that one be able to consult the technical team members
- Provide documentation and training as needed to other groups within network Implementation.
- Have a working knowledge and use industry best practices for the technologies supported for various network.
- Interface with other organizations to improve and implement processes, procedures, and automation.
- Perform configurations and implementations of client solutions as needed per management.
- Be a mentor and subject matter expert in the use of prevailing technologies.
- The ability to multitask between several complex solutions, ability to coordinate, orchestrate, and communicate effectively with other technologists and business partners to maintain high service levels in a demanding environment.
Required Skills and Experience

- Solid knowledge of network infrastructure and hardware

- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex network solutions
- Highly motivated, with a strong commitment to successful service delivery and implementation
- Working knowledge of NNI, Wave, IPVPN, DIA, and HSIP solutions
- Practical third-line support experience, including installation and troubleshooting of infrastructure devices such as routers and switches
- Hands-on experience within telecommunications and networking environments
- Ability to understand, interpret, and support routed and hybrid network designs
- Experience supporting or implementing BGP, MPLS, and SD‑WAN technologies
- Actively working towards CCNP, CCDA, JNCIS, or possessing equivalent hands-on experience
- Experience with security deployments and configurations
- ITIL 4 Foundation certification or equivalent service management experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Practical experience with Cisco routers and switches, including IOS configuration and troubleshooting
- Working knowledge of Juniper EX Series platforms
- Demonstrable experience with IP routing protocols to a CCNP or JNCIA level
- Knowledge of application transport and underlying network infrastructure protocols
- Strong Linux fundamentals, including hands-on experience in Linux environments
- Proficiency with Linux command-line tools and common administrative commands
- Confident use of CLI on Cisco and Juniper devices
- Solid Layer 1–3 networking experience, including BGP
- Experience with large-scale network design and provisioning, including IPVPN
- Experience working with vendors to troubleshoot cross-connect and circuit-related issues
- Protocols: In-depth knowledge of BGP (Internet routing), OSPF, MPLS, IS-IS, IPv4/IPv6, and Quality of Service (QoS)
- Hardware: Hands-on experience with service provider–grade routers (e.g., Juniper MX, Cisco ASR) and switches
- Experience: Proven background in network engineering within an ISP, WISP, or large enterprise environment
- Core Routing & Switching: Configure and maintain large-scale routing (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS) and switching technologies (MPLS, VLANs, VRFs)
- Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis: Advanced troubleshooting of complex network issues, including BGP instability and fiber‑optic (DWDM/CWDM) link failures
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 2+ years’ hands on experience within a complex IT environment
- 2+ years of direct hand on Network experience
- Industry standard certifications
