Responsibilities
The Principal QA engineer’s responsibilities include:
- Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely feedback.
- Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases.
- Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities.
- Design, develop, and execute automation scripts according to approved designs.
- Identify and document issues and defects across all environments.
- Conduct thorough regression testing following feature enhancements or bug resolutions.
- Work closely with the team to define feature requirements and validate product functionality.
- Provide process and technical leadership in developing test strategies and plans for complex applications and systems.
- Innovate and apply creative approaches to automate functional, performance, and stress testing.
- Engage fully in our Agile/Scrum development process.
- Interface with Product Management and Client Services to ensure requirements compliance and manage defect triage.
- Keep abreast of new testing tools and strategies.
- Strong understanding of QA processes including test plan preparation, test tool selection, and network design/implementation.
- Extensive experience with both manual and automated testing.
- Competence in scripting and/or programming.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and microservice architectures.
- Profound experience testing microservices, REST services, database functions, PL/SQL code, and user interfaces.
- Experience with REST API testing frameworks and load/performance testing tools (e.g. Rest Assured).
- Experience in software development (Python and Java is highly advantageous).
- A keen interest in employing automation tools and a proactive approach to automate processes.
- Proven experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- A strong problem-solving attitude with the ability to address challenges creatively.
- Quick learner with the ability to adapt to changing environments.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- 10+ years of experience in quality assurance, software engineering, or a related field, with a strong focus on automated and manual testing strategies in high-volume environments.
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and drive architectural and strategic testing decisions.
- Extensive experience in designing scalable testing architectures, optimizing automation pipelines, and implementing testing strategies for complex, high-performance systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex technical challenges effectively.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
