About The Role - Principal UI Engineer

As the Principal UI Engineer at Xactly, you’ll be an essential member of a fast moving agile development team building Xactly’s AlignStar application. You will contribute to all aspects from design and development to deployment and support working alongside product management and customer support. You’ll be responsible for taking personal ownership in both your code and others, this includes ensuring proper tests, documentation and communication around development.

What You’ll Do

• Technical Vision & Evolution: Drive the continued evolution of the Xactly Extend app-building platform, identifying opportunities to enhance performance, modularity, and the overall developer experience within the existing engine.
• Lead Architectural Discussions: Act as the primary technical expert in team meetings, guiding complex architectural debates and ensuring UI decisions align with long-term platform scalability.
• Collaborative System Design: Partner with Product, UX, and Backend teams to design and deliver high-impact features, translating abstract business needs into robust, maintainable technical blueprints.
• Engineering Mentorship: Foster a high-performance culture by leading technical deep-dives, conducting high-level code reviews, and mentoring senior engineers on advanced UI patterns and best practices.
  
  

• 10+ Years of Senior-Level Experience: Expert command of the modern web stack—JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3—with a focus on high-scale enterprise applications.
• React & TypeScript Specialist: Deep, production-level expertise in React and TypeScript, specifically in managing complex state and rendering cycles in a platform environment.
• Architectural Leadership: Proven ability to lead "the room" during technical sessions, with a strong background in System Design and building extensible UI frameworks.
• Data Proficiency (SQL): Strong proficiency in SQL; ability to write complex queries and understand relational data modeling to ensure the UI platform integrates seamlessly with backend data structures.
• Complex State Management: Mastery of sophisticated state management patterns (e.g., Redux, Recoil, or Context API) tailored for dynamic, metadata-driven applications.
• Performance & Web Vitals: Deep understanding of browser rendering, memory management, and profiling tools to ensure the platform remains highly responsive as user-built apps scale.
• Modern CSS Frameworks: Experience with Tailwind CSS or Bootstrap for rapid UI development and maintaining consistent design systems.
  
  

• Java Fluency: Familiarity with Java to better collaborate with backend teams and understand the service-oriented architecture powering the platform.
• Node.js Proficiency: Solid experience with Node.js to manage the orchestration layers and tooling that power the application-building experience.
• DevOps & CI/CD Excellence: Hands-on experience with Harness or similar Continuous Delivery platforms to streamline deployment and ensure high platform availability.
• Enterprise SaaS Background: Experience working on complex, data-driven platforms where customization and user-led app building are core features.
• Platform Performance: A track record of optimizing large-scale web applications to ensure a smooth, responsive experience for power users.
