Role Overview

Moody’s Ratings Platform Engineering is building the connective tissue that powers ratings, research, and commercial capabilities at scale. As a Principal Integration Specialist, you will be the senior hands‑on expert who rapidly understands our platforms and delivers robust integrations across database services, middleware, production support, document management, release & environment management, and cloud engineering. You’ll lead by influence (not headcount), set integration patterns, and be a key driver of AI‑assisted engineering across the platform ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Own cross‑platform integrations end‑to‑end. Design, build, and harden integrations that connect services across database, middleware, production support, document management, release/environment management, and cloud engineering; define reference architectures and reusable patterns for APIs, events, data movement, identity/entitlements, observability, and CI/CD.
• Ramp fast and deliver across multiple programs. Quickly learn Moody’s platforms and ongoing initiatives; turn ambiguous requirements into running integrations that improve reliability and developer experience.
• Make AI a multiplier. Introduce agent‑assisted workflows, coding copilots, and test automation to reduce cycle time and defect escape rate; help platform and cloud teams operationalize AI safely and effectively.
• Build with Moody’s stack. Integrate within our cloud/Kubernetes operating model (EKS + Rancher/ACM), observability (Grafana/Datadog), scheduling/orchestration (Control‑M, AWS Transfer Family) and data/ETL (Informatica PowerCenter, Alteryx, KNIME).
• Security, compliance, and governance first. Implement integrations that align to DORA‑aligned risk management.
• Accelerate release quality. Partner with DevOps, Release & Environment Management to standardize deployment pipelines, integration testing, and rollback strategies across environments.
• Create scalable playbooks. Document patterns, guardrails, and “golden paths”; mentor teams through architecture reviews, technical deep dives, and incident postmortems.
• Communicate and influence. Translate leadership priorities into technical roadmaps; align stakeholders across Platform Engineering and partner towers; remove friction via crisp written and verbal communication.
• Measure outcomes. Track and improve lead time for changes, MTTD/MTTR, integration throughput, test coverage, and change failure rate; socialize dashboards that make progress visible.
  
  

• Senior IC depth. 10+ years in platform/integration engineering with demonstrable ownership of complex, production‑grade integrations and automation.
• Cloud & container fluency. Hands‑on experience with AWS (or equivalent), Kubernetes, and cluster management; comfort with Infrastructure‑as‑Code and secrets/identity management.
• Integration patterns mastery. Proven use of API gateways, event streaming/queues, batch and near‑real‑time data movement, and resilient transaction flows.
• Observability & reliability. Practical expertise with logging, metrics, tracing, SLOs/error budgets, and performance tuning; experience integrating Grafana/Datadog (or similar).
• Automation & orchestration. Solid experience with scheduling/orchestration tools (e.g., Control‑M) and CI/CD; strong scripting (Python/PowerShell/Bash) for automation.
• Data & document integration. Experience integrating ETL/ELT stacks (Informatica, KNIME, Alteryx) and enterprise document solutions (EDMS/FileNet) with secure S3 storage.
• Communication & stakeholder management. Ability to align diverse engineering teams and articulate trade‑offs to technical and non‑technical audiences.
